[VIDEO] The Straight Pipes' Review of the 2024 Corvette E-Ray Is Our Favorite One Yet

Since yesterday’s reveal of the 2024 Corvette E-Ray, we’ve binged a number of videos about the new electrified Corvette on YouTube as we look to share the best of them here on CorvetteBlogger.com. Not only did this review by The Straight Pipes meet our criteria for being informative, but we also thought the two hosts had the most fun during their time in Detroit. Any video that both opens and closes with donuts has our attention, so give this on a watch and enjoy!

The two hosts of The Straight Pipes, Yuri and Jakub, traveled to the Milford Proving Ground for their super top secret walk-around and ride in the new 2024 Corvette E-Ray. As we mentioned, the video starts off with donuts and after a brief introduction, we get to watch the facial reactions to the E-Ray’s launch control. Back inside, the duo gives us a fun walkaround with one of them asking questions and the other providing the answers.

Unlike the other videos from the same event, the indoor lighting over the Cacti E-Ray was much better than the harsh glare we saw on the Car and Driver video, and that gave us the best look yet at the new exterior color. The Straight Pipes duo also seemed to have done the outdoor driving portion first, and then did the walkaround inside, and that allowed them to talk about the performance of the car and what they experienced while showing off the Cacti C8 and the E-Ray cutaway chassis. Their outdoor portion was very entertaining, and the donuts, drifting, and launches shouldn’t be missed!

The hosts recently were part of the Z06 launch and they say the E-Ray feels completely different despite having similar performance times. “It’s just like a different style of wildness,” says Yuri. Jakub adds, “Yeah, like zero to 60 time today, we can still get 2.5. It comes with all season tires…there is an optional stickier tire. This is meant to be driven in the winter and they’re kind of trying to prove a point here. It’s almost freezing temperatures, it’s raining, and we’re still doing crazy times.”

As they transition to the cockpit, we see the first E-Ray animations on the dash and it shows the electrical components like the front drive unit and the batteries as well as an exterior view. Jakub takes a moment to show the E-Ray Performance App and its menus. We also learned from the video that the lid to the front trunk will feature a power close function for 2024 just like the engine hatch.

2024 Corvette E-Ray review by The Straight Pipes. The Chevrolet C8 Corvette E-Ray is putting down 655 horsepower and 595 lb-ft of torque from a 6.2L V8 and 1 electric motor with a 1.9kWh battery. At $128,798 CAD incl. fees, would you take it over the C8 Z06, Porsche 911 Turbo, Porsche 911 Turbo S, Acura NSX?

  1. Wow, very impressive. I like the fact that both of them are wearing C6 shirts! I have a 2011 GS so I did catch that. Making the wheels spin different directions??? Really?? Come on you guys, that’s what the JDM idiots would do. High speed handling looks awesome, sounds killer what a friggen car. Hopefully GM will get it’s shit together, track record is a little sketchy right now. Didn’t like the idea of a Hybrid, but I’m warming up to it. I can’t afford one anyway.

  2. Well lets hope it is not a mess like the Z 06 where 10,000 of us put down deposits for a car that GM can not build. Nothing but excuses.
