[PICS] Corvette E1 SUV Design Project Rendered


Hard-core enthusiasts have been grumbling for years about rumors of Chevy introducing a Corvette SUV, apparently joining the rush of other sports car manufacturers to do so like Lamborghini, Porsche, and Ferrari.

We have tried to keep an open mind about the possibility, figuring that an SUV is a near-necessity of living in the modern world so it might as well have the Corvette name behind it if we’re going to get one.

After seeing this rather blah design by Sanket Kumar Vanani of India, however, we’re inclined to join the chorus of naysayers against such a Corvette.

Vanani calls his creation the Corvette E1 after first revealing several preliminary sketches of possibilities on his Behance social media page. The final product does admittedly have a few Corvette styling cues, but none that make us want to go out and buy such an SUV.

It’s always been our hope that if Chevy did ever proceed with producing a Corvette SUV, that it would be the most powerful, best-looking such vehicle available in the world.

Unfortunately, this rendering ain’t it.

  1. Just another flying potato. Only offer it in black or white and blend in with the other SUV`s. They are all so nondescript that I can’t describe them.

  4. The people in power of government and industry despise anything to do with oil and automobiles. Are you surprised that this abomination is in our future?

    My advice is to buy a car you like now, before the only models available are so hideous that driving is no longer a pleasure, just a task using an appliance. Say hello to the second Malaise era, circa 1975.

  8. Not my cup of tea! I don’t understand why Porsche corrupted the 911. Well, I guess I do, “MOMEY”. I see more 4 door Porsche’s then 911s. GM has so many other brands, why corrupt the Corvette. I’m sure GM is seeing the popularly of the corrupted 911 and want to cash in on.

  21. GM: Do NOT dilute the Corvette brand!!
    Next time you meet a senior Ford exec, ask how their electric “Mustang” has been received by “real” Mustang owners. (I’ll bet they’ve never surveyed them as they’re too busy marketing their $91,000 F-150.)
    I’ve driven Vettes since 1962, but now I’m done. Next toy will be from overseas.

  22. Manufacturers like to make money. SUV versions of high end and performance cars has been a successful formula. Even Ferrari has joined in. Not that long ago you would have thought a Lamborghini or Rolls Royce SUV was nuts…they double their sales. Dad can justify a Lamborghini purchase when the whole family can ride in it…and it is much cheaper than other models.
