Chevy Has Sold More Corvettes Than Camaros So Far in 2022

While the future looks brighter than ever for the mid-engine Corvette, the same sadly can’t be said for its little brother, the Camaro.

In fact, the Corvette has outsold the much-less-expensive Camaro for the first two quarters of 2022 – and by a large margin, too.

After selling 8,811 Stingrays from January to March, Chevy followed that up with another 8,630 Corvettes from April to June. During the same two quarters, on the other hand, 6,710 Camaros were built in the first quarter, with that number falling to 4,545 in the second quarter.

That means so far 17,441 Corvettes have been sold to 11,255 Camaros.

The 2022 domination by Corvette follows a similar pattern in 2021 when Stingray sales totaled 14,582 for the first half of the year against 9,881 for the Camaro.

Of course, the 2021 numbers were affected by the chip shortage, with Chevy diverting more chips to the more profitable and already sold Corvettes and idling Camaro production for much of the year.

Rumor has it that the 2024 model year will mark the end of the road for the Camaro as Chevy turns to an electric future. We definitely hate to see it go!

  1. Well i am a corvette guy for 45 years my 3 children have owned a half a dozen Camaros over the last 15 years and i own a 95 Z 28 now. I will hate to see the Camaro go away. The same as i was disappointed in GM giving up on cars altogether. My Cruze was a great commuter car. now GM plans on dumping all their eggs in the electric car basket ? i dont know how that is going to work out. I think they will regret it.

  2. They have rovering black outs now when there is high demand for elect. when it is extremely hot or cold. How are they gonna charge thousands of cars?

  3. When was the last time you saw any promotion for Camaro? Cars in a dealers inventory? GM is killing the car…..very sad…..Is there a Kia Stinger in your future? VW GTI, Civic Si?

  4. There selling less Camaros because there building less, the demand is there, it’s a shortage by design.

  5. I don’t know that the all electric deadline is going to work for any car maker touting it. Still a ton of ICE (internal combustion engine) powered cars out there that need gas. With the cost of electric cars being so high and what may be a long recovery from this recession, nobody will buy them, at least not in the numbers they are buying ICE cars. I think an phasing in of EVs would be a better approach, and I think everyone will learn that soon enough, after the all EV launch has fallen on its face. As others have mentioned, can the grid handle it. We could be building Thorium fueled nuclear plants now would would supply enough electricity for all of this. But the environmentalists probably will throw a hissy fit.

  6. This gen camaro body style is a total flop and dangerous to drive with little visibility. it is also overpriced. The mustang outsales camaro 2:1. Case closed for camaro
