Criswell Chevrolet’s Mike Furman delivers new Corvettes to his customers who come from all across the country to work with the nation’s top individual Corvette seller.
We had mentioned in our last Delivery Dispatch that Mike would be changing up how we do these posts and today we have a nice update from the Corvette Seller who took a day off to run up to New Jersey to meet his old friend RJ Konner. Mike worked for Malcolm Konner Chevrolet back in their heyday and he has become the de facto historian for the former “World’s Largest Corvette Dealership” with RJ giving him even more memorabilia from the New Jersey dealership. In addition to that, we’ve got some great C8 Corvette deliveries to share plus a slightly different throwback section. Let us know what you think in the comments below.
~I had the good fortune to Work for the Konner family when I started in the auto industry and a couple of years ago Gary Konner called me and said he was selling his NY home and moving to Florida. He had a ton of Auto related items from Malcolm Konner Auto and other auto paraphernalia so we met up in Maryland just off Rte 95 South to make the exchange. Fast forward to two weeks ago and I get a call from RJ Konner and he is moving, downsizing from a large Ridgewood, NJ home to a smaller more manageable residence. He asked if I wanted a few things from his Malcolm Konner Auto collection? I of course said yes as I am a collector of such stuff but also cherish my Malcolm Konner Auto background from throughout the’80’s. This past Friday I left my home at 3:45am and drove 250 miles to meet up with RJ at his Ridgewood, NJ home and we spent an hour reminiscing about the good old days as we sifted through the items he gifted me for my collection.
I have always had much respect to the Konner family business back in the day as they had always treated me as family as well as all the other employees. I credit the Konner’s all the time for much of my success as without them and their organization then there would be no Corvette Furman. Thank you RJ for your time last Friday and thank you both for your life long friendship. Appreciated more then you know and hopefully one day we will see your father, Malcolm Konner in the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY.
~Frank and Diane L. of Carmel, New York were referred to me by a Customer/friend of mine so big thanks to Basil! Super nice couple, Frank and Diane drove down today to take delivery of their 2nd Corvette, from a C6 to C8…big difference will be felt instantly on the 300 mile ride home. Red Mist paint with Black leather/microfiber interior was chosen for their new 2022 Corvette Z51 coupe. Thank you for the wine you gifted me, very much appreciated!

Well, you asked for what I thought so let me be brutally frank: I am really pee’d with what is happening with GM and their allocations. I see your dealership brag about how many cars you are providing for customers all over America and in short wait times in many instances for buyers in places like Texas, Florida, California etc., when we in Canada who have a short driving season are having to wait for almost two years. There are far, far fewer buyers (per population) in Canada than the US. In fact, one week of production can satisfy Canada’s buyers needs. GM management need to do some allocation based upon being fair to the Canadian market. To top it off, GM is shipping to countries outside of the American continent thus extending the timeline. To further infuriate, GM is starting production of the Z06 soon without satisfying the wait for the Stingray among many of those whose orders have been in for almost two years.

PS. I would not be at all surprised to have my car show up in December when I will have to mothball it as soon as I get it and then have to wait 5 months before I can drive it. Thanks G M!
Well Mike, I don’t know where you find the time to do all the things you do. But I enjoy the throw back photos, especially the curious ones without explanation! You do whatever your time allows, I’ll keep reading this column regardless of photos you can provide.
