Corvettes for Sale: Supercharged 1981 Corvette on Bring a Trailer

Somehow we wouldn’t be surprised if these late-model C3s become a popular favorite among the resto-mod crowd in the years to come.

After all, what’s not to love about the lines of a 1981 Corvette like this one? These cars are just begging for the addition of custom touches under the hood, on the body, and inside the cockpit.

This blue-over-red beauty is being offered out of Canada on Bring a Trailer. Surprisingly, the bidding seems to have stuck at $10,000, with three days to go, and we’d definitely be shocked if that low number has managed to pass the reserve. This is an expensive build, for sure.

While the restoration process was led by Corvette Tech of Newburgh, New York around 2010, the car seems to have been well taken care of in the ensuing 12 years. It definitely seems to check all the restomod boxes for us.

Box #1 – The installation of a supercharged 5.7-liter LS6 V8 out of a C5 Z06 and a T56 six-speed manual transmission definitely provides much more punch than the stock 350 V8 and usual automatic transmission from back in the day when the Corvette didn’t even crack 200 horsepower. Other mechanical updates include an SRIII Motorsports tube-frame chassis, C4 front and rear suspension components, Precision Racing headers, Stainless Works exhaust system with dual side pipes, Ram clutch, Fidanza Performance aluminum flywheel, DeWitts aluminum radiator, Denny’s aluminum driveshaft, Dana 44 rear axle with 3.90:1 gearing, aluminum fuel tank with an Aeromotive Fuel system, and custom valve covers, coil brackets, and wiring harness.

Box #2 – A repaint in a cool shade of blue with a white stripe trimmed in red accents done by the Corvette Shop of Montgomery, New York really makes the lines of the C3 pop.

Box #3 – We really like the custom interior with two-tone red and black leather seats, with matching dash, door panels, and carpeting, along with a red steering wheel and AutoMeter Phantom gauges.

That’s enough boxes checked for us to wish this car was sitting in our driveway, instead of in Canada. How about you?
