The so-called “Chevy shake” isn’t the latest dance craze to hit America.

Instead, it’s the nickname for a vibration problem said to be affecting certain late-model General Motors vehicles – including some C7 Corvettes – that has now prompted a second class action lawsuit, according to WSOC-TV in Charlotte, N.C.

“It would vibrate pretty good to where it was like you were driving over rumble strips,” a 2019 Silverado owner named Peter Bernier told WSOC’s Jason Stoogenke, one of the first reporters in the nation to report on the GM vibration issues three years ago.

The problem was so bad that the dealer wound up buying back Bernier’s pickup, but as Peter’s wife Lisa said: “We feel very bad for the next person.”

The couple didn’t want to sell the truck outright “because I didn’t want to dump a problem on somebody else,” Peter told Stoogenke. “I didn’t feel right doing that. But when the dealer that sold it to us offered to buy it back, I felt a little better about that, because now it’s their problem.”

That problem appears to be expanding. While the first lawsuit pointed to several GM makes and models from 2015 to 2019, the second suit filed this month now covers even more vehicles from 2019 to 2022, Stoogenke says. In fact, since 2019, he says more consumers – nearly 300 people in 30 states and Canada – have complained to him about this issue than any other, besides problems related to the pandemic like stimulus checks and unemployment.

Covered in the new lawsuit are certain 2019-22 vehicles bought on or after March 1, 2019, including 2019 Corvette, 2019 Cadillac ATS, ATS-V, CTS, CT6, and CTS-V, 2019-22 Chevrolet Camaro, Colorado, and Silverado, and 2019-22 GMC Canyon and Sierra.

The original suit covered the 2015-19 Silverado, 2017-19 Colorado, 2015-19 Corvette, 2016-19 Camaro, 2015-19 Escalade and Escalade ESV, 2016-19 ATS, ATS-V, CTS, CT6, and CTS-V, 2015-19 Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL, and Denali XL, and 2017-19 Canyon.

  1. Shouldn’t they just be thrilled that GM didn’t Kill them with their Defective Ignitions? What’s a little Shake? GM designs Self-destructing Engines, Disintegrating Wheels, etc.

All things considered, these owners are very lucky; Extremely.

  2. Only shake I get in mine is that from the ladies. Like in the words of “Eddie Money” “She was shakin”. Some people will bitch about anything and always looking for a lawsuit. They test drove it and bought it.

  3. I’m telling you that lady is going to put GM out of Business. I’m sorry but putting a lady in charge of a The company is the biggest mistake GM ever did..

  4. As an owner of a 2919 Sierra, I’ve never had any such issues. I’m gonna guess that only cerrain vehicles had this issue.
