Tornado-Damaged C8 Corvettes Are Being Parted Out on eBay

It was back on December 11th that a tornado ripped through south-central Kentucky damaging homes and businesses alike. The Corvette Assembly Plant was damaged as well with the roof catching fire while also allowing water to fall on the still-to-be-completed 2022 model year Corvettes on the assembly line. Luckily no personnel were hurt in the tornado strike but up to 122 C8 Corvettes would be scrapped.

We previously shared drone footage a couple weeks after the tornado that showed the damaged Corvettes in a fenced lot behind the assembly plant. In one of those videos, you could see all those Corvettes were wearing an “X” which was spray-painted on the windshield to designate the car for destruction. And finally, at the end of January, a Facebook user shared photos of three of these Corvettes on the back of a trailer headed to an unknown destination.

Now, thanks to CorvetteBlogger reader Doug H., we now know that these Corvettes are being parted out on eBay. Doug sent us the link to one such auction for a set of open spoke black aluminum wheels. Within the set of photos it showed a car missing body panels and on the windshield was a giant X. That listing ended with the seller taking a “Best Offer” amount. Searching further through the eBay store, we came across a whole boatload of 2022 Corvette parts including this “Convertible Power Folding Roof” that is offered for $2,999.99. Those photos also show a Torch Red Corvette with an X on the windshield.

Another eBay listing is for a “pre-owned” 2022 Steering wheel which was taken off a Hypersonic Gray car and a photo was taken of the odometer showing “0 Miles” proving that these cars never left the plant under their own power.

The C8 Corvette Parts are being offered by Stricker Auto Parts in Batavia, OH. We don’t know if they were receiving all of the 120+ tornado-damaged cars or if they received just a portion, but there is now another source for owners and repair shops who need a replacement part for an incident not covered under warranty. Some C8 Corvette Parts have been extremely hard to come across which has caused some owners to be without the use of their vehicles for weeks and even months. So that’s something to consider…

The global risk industry website called The Insurer estimated the total impact of the Assembly Plant’s damage from the tornado to be upwards of $225 million which includes $175 million for physical damage to property, equipment, and vehicles, and another $50 million to cover business interruption losses that occurred when the plant was shut down for repairs.

GO CORVETTES ALL THE DAY LONG!

  2. MAYBE WE CAN BUY ONE OF THESE CORVETTE FOR STICKER PRICE INSTEAD OF GETTING RIPPED OFF BY ONE OF THOSE OVER STICKER CHEVY DEALERS !!! JUST MAYBE !!!

  3. Curious as to whether or not GM removed the VIN plates prior to “scrapping the storm damaged Corvettes”. Does anybody know???????

  4. So they let them go with drivetrains……No duh , they had to!!! Morons would have sued if anything ended up in a new delivery. Gotta be stupid to think they will throw the drivetrain away

  5. Hey %&#*@ ,, No Premium , No Car ! and only the dim witted thought all those cars would be destroyed , By a Contractor up in mafia world

  6. At least there’s some salvage value here. Eventually all these parts will find a new home. Obviously anything with a VIN or other tag tying it to a specific car might create some titling issues for the parts buyers. Hopefully those items won’t be sold.

  7. Insurance companies almost always sell “totaled” cars to salvage companies who part them out. They recoup some of their costs that way. Some of those salvage parts come from cars with 100,000 miles on them. Buyer beware. I wouldn’t buy electrical parts, and probably not interior parts, from these cars, but most of the components won’t be hurt by getting wet.
