Corvettes for Sale: 1969 Corvette is the Perfect Definition of a Ten-Foot Car

This 1969 Corvette Stingray convertible is the classic “10-foot car,” according to its current owner, who admits it “looks great from a distance but has blemishes as you get closer.”

He’s put a lot of time, effort, and money into the car over the past seven years of ownership but now says he’s getting out of the old-car business.

Thus, his non-original triple black Corvette is up for sale – at no reserve – on eBay, where bidding has climbed to $19,500 with activity coming to a close Thursday morning.

If you’re looking for an original Stingray, you might want to look past this car since the original small-block motor has already been replaced with a Chevy 350 crate engine – “one of the ZZ engines but I am not entirely certain,” the owner says.

The car will also need some bodywork on the front passenger side as well as a new paint job overall.

Included with this Corvette will be three hoods! There’s the original small-block hood, a large-block hood from a 1970 Corvette that is in place now and features an inaccurate-for-the-car 454 emblem, and an L88 aftermarket fiberglass, unpainted hood.

The car is said to have good chrome, newer tires and brakes, and many new interior trim parts, including dash, carpet, and console. The glass – windshield and driver and passenger doors – is also in good shape, he says. Other work done to the car includes a new heater core and heater blower that “gets toasty on those cool autumn days,” new emergency brake mechanics, newer battery, new leaf spring and many new front and rear suspension parts, including all-new rubber in front and back.

When he bought the car, the windshield wipers didn’t work and the wiper door was missing – he’s since put in all new relays and vacuum parts to handle that.

Other improvements include a new steering box from Duntov Motor Company, a rebuilt steering column (the original is included with the sale), and a new interior wiring harness.

Unfortunately, after doing all that work to the car, the owner says it “largely sat in my garage with little to no driving during most of those years – just select weekend days during the spring, summer, and fall.”

He says the car will make a great “entry car” for someone new to the hobby or a “fabulous candidate” for a resto-mod project, calling it “a fun car to drive.”
