Now that we’ve flipped the calendar over to March, it’s time to start thinking about Corvette weather and hitting the road in America’s Favorite Sports Car. If you’re currently looking for something to cruise, show, or just show off, our friends at Corvette Mike in Anaheim, California can help you out. Mike Vietro and the crew have been buying, selling, and consigning Corvettes for 40 years now. Over that timeframe, they’ve helped countless enthusiasts find that Corvette of their dreams. Check out their online showroom or give them a call at 714-630-0700 to see what they’ve got to offer.
This month we’ve got 3 different generations to share with you including a classic C3 convertible, an uber-rare C2 brute, and a seventh-generation cruiser.
1963 Black/Black Corvette Z06
1963 Split Window coupes are currently one of the hottest things on the Corvette market. Over the last few months, they’ve been bringing strong numbers at the major auction houses and online. Back in January, Corvette Mike brought us a stunning red-on-black 1963 coupe. How do you top that? With an absolutely sinister, all-black 1963 Corvette Z06, of course!
Just 199 Corvettes received RPO Z06 on their options list in 1963. Far less than that are known today and they draw serious attention whenever they come up for sale. All Z06s were equipped with heavy-duty brakes and suspension, the 360hp fuel injected 327 engine, and a 4-speed transmission. Also a radio was available on a Z06, but this example is extremely rare with both a radio and heater delete. The Z06 option package added a healthy $1,818.14 (~42%) to the Corvette’s base price of $4,252.
This exquisite C2 available through Corvette Mike has been fully restored and has claimed our hobbies top honors. Its resume includes an NCRS National Top Flight award, Bloomington Gold Certification, and Chevy Vette Fest Gold Spinner and Triple Crown awards. All that bling is backed up by a stack of paperwork featuring the original dealer Invoice, numerous receipts, correspondence with previous owners, and restoration documents among other items.
Today the car presents in as-new condition. The Tuxedo Black paint and black interior show next to no wear and tear. The engine compartment has been highly detailed to showcase that 360hp fuelie engine. Between the black paint, black interior, and black sidewall tires, this is one mean-looking midyear Corvette that belongs in your garage.
1974 Corvette L82 Convertible
In the mid-70s, Corvette was beginning to succumb to the new insurance and emission constraints. While the Corvette was no longer a total bruiser it was still a fantastic driving car thanks to newly-minted radial tires and a host of other small improvements. The convertible model would exit the line up after the 1975 model year.
This attractive 1974 is a great example of a 3rd generation Stingray convertible. Of the 37,502 Corvettes made in 1974, it’s one of just 5,474 (~15%) convertibles produced that year. It was born in Code 48 Dark Green and has been switched to the stylish burgundy hue we see today.
Power comes from the optional 250hp L82 which is backed by a 3-speed automatic transmission. The interior features the standard black vinyl interior. This well-equipped C3 also sports air conditioning, power brakes, power steering, power windows, and a tilt/telescopic steering column. A luggage rack and rally wheels wrapped in black sidewall tires complete the look. Overall, this Corvette remains in largely original condition, ready to hit the road with you behind the wheel.
2015 Night Race Blue Corvette Convertible
2015 marked the 2nd model of Corvette’s 7th generation. Little did we know then that the C7 would be the final front-engine Corvette platform. Chevrolet produced a little over 32,000 Corvettes in 2015 and this is one of the 1,417 (4.1%) that were painted in attractive Night Race Blue. Breaking the numbers down further we see it’s one of just 262 Night Race Blue Convertibles produced that year. Of those, it’s one of the 135 Stingrays to get a blue convertible top. Interestingly, it was first delivered through the National Corvette Museum and the R8C program.
Since meeting its first owner in Bowling Green, its traveled just 19,000 miles and remains in excellent condition. This C7 Stingray convertible is powered by the standard 6.2L LT1 engine that cranks out 460hp. The 8-speed automatic transmission routes the power out back to the 2.41:1 rear end which spins the rear tires.
The handsome gray interior is a perfect complement to the Night Race Blue paint with its Napa leather seats and trim. The car is loaded up with the 3LT option package. The top-dog bundle features a host of content including heated seats with memory, Bose audio, navigation, Bluetooth, and much more. It also has the battery protection package and remote start.
Bonus Car! 1958 Corvette on Bring A Trailer
This iconic 1958 Corvette roadster with its art deco-inspired two-tone coves, tons of chrome, and unique one-year design features is powered by a 283ci V8 mated to the rare two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission. Only 455 Panama Yellow exteriors were produced and this one is nicely outfitted with the Charcoal interior and Black convertible top. It’s currently offered for sale at Bring a Trailer with the auction ending next Monday afternoon.
