[VIDEO] Watch the Trailer for the Angelyne Series on Peacock

Before Paris Hilton, before the Kardashians, and way before Twitter, a bombshell in a pink C3 Corvette was making her way to stardom – simply by being herself.

Angelyne – the buxom blonde from LA – made herself famous on her own in the 1980s, simply by putting up huge billboards with her sexy photo around the city.

Four decades later, she continues to tantalize the public, and her rise to fame is now being documented in a semi-fictionalized series called “Angelyne” that debuts on Thursday, May 19 on Peacock. (Earlier, in 1995, at a time when she had up more than 200 billboards around Los Angeles, she was also the subject of a black-and-white documentary by Robinson Devor.)

New Limited Run Series Will Tell Story of LA Billboard Queen Angelyne

You can get a sneak preview of what to expect from the new series by watching this just-released trailer of the show, which will star Emmy Rossum as the Corvette-driving, publicity-seeking beauty who was also a singer, tour guide, and a candidate for Hollywood City Council.

“I love Angelyne,” says Rossum, who also serves as executive producer of the show. “She’s as if Marilyn Monroe got into an easy bake oven with a ’80s punk Barbie Doll, and a dose of new-age spirituality. She’s a trailblazer, a hustler, a visionary, the original influencer, a living-breathing piece of art.”

Angelyne is famous in Corvette circles, of course, because she has been frequently seen in a series of pink Corvettes, with generations ranging from the C3 to the C7. No word on whether the real Angelyne, who’s turning 72 in October, will be adding a C8 to that list in the coming years.

Regardless, Rossum points out that the new series, not surprisingly, will put an emphasis on “fame, identity, survival, billboards, Corvettes, lingerie, men, women, women teasing men, men obsessed with women, West Hollywood, crystals, UFOs, and most importantly of all, the self-proclaimed Rorschach test in pink, glow-in-the-dark queen of the universe, Angelyne.”

In addition, “Angelyne” will also embrace “whoever we are on the inside and live whatever truth feels most accurate,” Rossum says.

We’re not sure exactly what that means, but we do believe the show is bound to appeal to Corvette enthusiasts, who can always enjoy the scenery in more ways than one.

  1. Her exploits reminds me of a famously hilarious TV show called Seinfeld… “What is it about ?” a producer asked… and Jerry replied back “its about nothing!”…
I will not comment on disfiguring many corvettes in bubblegum pink…
