Man Shot While Sitting in a C6 Corvette Z06 in Miami

This Miami Corvette owner is lucky to be alive following an early Tuesday morning shooting in South Florida.

He and a friend were sitting in a Yellow C6 Corvette Z06 on the bottom floor of a parking garage in Miami’s Design District when they witnessed a car circling around. Two men then jumped out and approached them wearing masks and carrying guns.

During the confrontation, one of those men started shooting at the driver’s side window of the Corvette, striking Reynaldo Diaz in the arm and leg. He was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.

Diaz described the two assailants in an interview with Miami’s NBC 6, telling the reporter that he believed they were targeted because they were wearing expensive jewelry:

We went to the garage, we got in my car,” Diaz said. “We saw a car come around a couple of times and then they came out and had guns.”

“They were pretty tall, both the driver and passenger,” Diaz said, “I have no clue what they looked like. Everything went pretty fast.”

The other man in the Corvette, Amine Jawhari, told NBC 6 that as the two men approached them, they immediately locked the doors. “And I hear some shooting one or two shots and after they left,” Jawhari said. “I thought I was going to die. God saved us. It was my first experience like that.”

The incident took place near Northeast 1st Avenue and 36th Street just before 2 AM. Police are looking for the two suspects and have asked the public for their help. People with information are urged to contact Miami-Date Crim Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
