An Illinois man convicted of stealing and later torching a classic C3 Corvette in 2018 now faces six years in prison after recently reaching a deal with state officials.
Police say 54-year-old James R. Henson of McHenry, Illinois stole a 1974 Corvette Stingray on Oct. 20, 2018, and 10 days later the burned sports car was found on land frequented by Henson. McHenry Police Department officers also recovered keys to the Corvette at a campsite associated with Henson.
Henson was eventually indicted on several charges, including arson, unlawful possession of a stolen motor vehicle, three counts of unlawful possession of a converted motor vehicle, unlawful possession of a stolen motor vehicle, two counts of burglary and two counts of theft.
He wound up negotiating a plea deal with the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office, pleading guilty to one count of theft, a Class 3 felony, in exchange for prosecutors dropping the other charges.
McHenry County Judge Michael Coppedge OKd the deal on Feb. 2 and handed down a six-year sentence to Henson in the Illinois Department of Corrections. He’ll also have to pay $8,500 in restitution to the victim as well as $1,049 in court fines and fees.

So why did he burn it? It seems that’s the question everyone would have.

I think his actual name is joe.
I agree with Craig that $8500 isn’t enough, but what are the odds the owner even gets any of that?
Worthless human being, has always been a drain on society and always will be.
@Jose he burned it cause it was a C3 the best generation of Corvettes!!! lol
Behave yourself mate!
Light sentence, bs.
I will bet he does 18 mos and the poor owner will have a nice piece of legal paper to hang on his wall. The owner will never see a dime. The state may get paid but not the owner
