Remember back at the L.A. Auto Show that at Corvette enthusiast came across 14 painted C8 models in a display case instead of the regular 12 production colors? The two extra colors appeared to be a White Pearlescent and a Carbon Flash Metallic Black. The obvious speculation was that these would be the exterior colors on an upcoming 70th Anniversary model which would drop during the 2023 model year.

Now, CorvetteBlogger contributor Jeremy Welborn and his friend Jay Shellabarger had the find of the year after stumbling upon these 70th Anniversary Editions on the C8 Corvette Z06 visualizer! The 70th Anniversary Edition Corvettes have a unique VIN sequence and will include the following features and equipment:

EXTERIOR

  • White Pearl Metallic Tri-Coat with optional Satin Matrix Gray Stripes or Carbon Flash Metallic with optional Satin Black Metallic Stripes
  • 70th Anniversary Exterior Badging – Flags and Side 70th badge
  • Edge Red Brake Calipers
  • 70th Anniversary Wheel Center Caps
  • Carbon Flash Wheel with Edge Red Stripe
  • Carbon Flash Mirror and Spoilers

INTERIOR

  • White Ceramic GT2 Seats with Red Stitching; Optional Competition Sport Seats
  • Red Seat Belts
  • Suede Interior Steering Wheel
  • 70th Anniversary logo on Seats, Steering Wheel, and Sill Plates

ACCESSORIES

  • Edge Red Engine Cover
  • Rear Bumper Protector / Trunk Cover
  • Custom Luggage Set with Red Stitching and 70th Anniversary Logo

Here are some screengrabs from the Visualizer showing the two special editions. We are being told that the 70th Anniversary package is no longer showing, which seems par for the course, and when I tried the link, I found that the whole 2023 visualizer was taken offline.

While we are very excited to see these details emerge, there are still some questions we have with the biggest being the exterior paint and if it will be a free-flow option or if it will just be reserved for the Anniversary Editions.

Chevrolet’s first Anniversary Edition was created in 1978 to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the car. Since then, we’ve had Anniversary Editions for the 1988 (35th), 1993 (40th), 2003 (50th), 2013 (60th), and the 2018 Carbon 65 which celebrated the 65th Anniversary. There was also a special 2012 Centennial Edition celebrating 100 years of Chevrolet with a car that featured Black Metallic Paint for the first time.

Now that you’ve had a chance to see the visualizer’s 70th Anniversary Package, I would love to hear your thoughts on the package, as well as if you are planning on changing your Z06 order to the new special edition. Let us know!

  1. These don’t seem overly creative. The marketing folks must have been hired post-C6 Era!

    Centennial Edition 2.0
    &
    60th Anniversary 2.0

  2. Thanks alot Chevrolet –
Another missed opportunity to create a special Corvette, looks just like the 60th Anniversary Edition in white. With all of the potential colors to use for the 70th Celebration of our beloved Corvettes, something in the purple range, light greens, bronze or coppers, the great Electron Blue Metallic from 2002 or a beautiful Marina Blue Pearlized Metallic with Tinted Midcoat.

Let’s get creative and earn your Corvette profits driven salary – try this selection for all 2023 Corvettes going way back to the first Corvette beauty, 1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe:
    Tuxedo Black.
    Silver Blue.
    Daytona Blue.
    Riverside Red.
    Saddle Tan.
    Ermine White.
    Sebring Silver
but bring them into the modern, current paint technology with candy, pearl, flip-flop, deep metallics, fades, or two tones.

Or just use the exact paint codes from 1963 for all of these seven great classic Corvette paint choices and let us make the decision on our version of the 70th Anniversary Corvette coupe, convertible and Z06.

What a concept, personalized versions of Corvettes to celebrate 70 years of the best sports car in the world! I would love a 70th Convertible in Saddle Tan Pearl with matching tan interior leather.

Are you listening Corvette Team, don’t repeat the boring 60th Anniversary white with a stripe color choice and don’t borrow this Cadillac Crystal White Tricoat code G1W paint because it saves money and you can divert the tanker trucks to Bowling Green.

Look over the thousands of automotive paint colors from PPG, Axalta, or House of Kolor to get inspired for what should be a great 70th Anniversary Edition color.
    Good luck!

  3. 70th Anniversary BS – A high priced glitzy option package for Corvette Club and Car Show posers. No performance gain, and no real long term collector value based on past past special edition graphics cars from Detroit. Save your money. The really valuable collector cars, especially from Corvette, have always been performance upgrade based.

For me as a race car enthusiast, what would have been a Nice Special Edition Z06 beyond the Z07 option would be the same Race Wheels and Adjustable Coil Over Shocks used by Team Corvette Racing, a 5-point harness and roll bar/cage. However, we may see this in the Z06 GT3 production race car edition expected in the fall of 2022 which Corvette will need to go GT3 / GTD racing in 2023 and beyond.

  4. Meh. I was wondering about this two weeks ago. Why just for the ZO6 ? Why not on any package like the Z51. I can live without what is described here.

  5. I’m on the list to order a 2023 70th anniversary edition. Helping to get the new white metallic I’ve been on the list for now nine months I was told I can order next October 2022.From a dealer that is charging the list price not 10 – 15,000 over list like some of these other dealers that are thieves.

  6. They are not very exciting, but if the premium is not that high I would consider one. Given the other colors available white or black would not be my first choices!

  7. Boring and not worth much of a premium. When will GM’s bean counters realize that the C8 is a landmark car not just in the Corvette tradition, but in GM’s entire history. We are very proud of it and willing to pony up for something truly unique and special. This isn’t it.

  8. When the 2006 Corvette Z06 made its debut, I happened to speak to one of the female Marketing gals who worked for Chevrolet and Cadillac back then, since I knew her personally I asked her, why did Chevrolet not Market this NEW Z06 with a poster program that included the 1963 Z06 with a Highlight on its Illustrious HISTORY, well guys take a seat… She turned to me and NO lie guys, I saw every vein in her forehead pop open, she screamed at me “We Don’t Go Backwards” I told her settle down, I ain’t your Husband!!! and walked away!!! From my vantage point “Backwards” is why we are here. The old is being shut out and it looks to me the “Grey Hairs” are not the future!!! They are Backwards!!!! I have other stories but best to keep my mouth SHUT!!!! oh ya this 70th car…. you know my thoughts already… 1966 982, 1962 Roman Red, 1970 993, 1956 Venetian Red and a whole lot more….

  9. Question. How did this obsession with stripes come about? Some guy 50 years ago
put them on a track car and to this day, they detract from the graceful lines and superb
engineering of the GOAT sports car.

A slight maybe for grey on black but other than that……………..

I remember my t-shirt back then that said, ” and on the 8th day, God created Corvette – with no stripes.
