Chevrolet Clarifies C8 Corvette's First Service Visit Extension

In December, Chevrolet sent a memo to dealers notifying them that GM was extending the 1st Service Visit time for 2020-2022 Corvette from the standard 12 months of ownership to 36 months. GM covers to cost of the 1st service visit which includes an oil change and a new transmission filter. According to that original memo, the extension was made to be “more suitable for the driving habits experienced with Corvette owners.”

Following that memo release in Mid-December, we heard that dealers were having trouble finding out any documentation for the updated service reimbursements. So we are not surprised to hear that another memo regarding the first service visit extension was sent to dealers last night. This new update is nearly identical to last month’s memo, though we note that the extension is now capped at 24 months of ownership and not the 36 months as stated originally.

Here is the new memo as shared by our friends at the Corvette Action Center:

CORVETTE INCLUDED MAINTENANCE 1ST SERVICE VISIT TIMING EXTENSION

Description: The Chevrolet Complete Care program is extending the Included Maintenance timing requirements for the owners of the Chevrolet Corvette (C8) to come in to dealerships for their 1st service visit. For owners of a 2020 and newer Corvette, the allowed timing for reimbursement is being increased from 12 months to 24 months. This new timing is to help satisfy customer concerns and is based on Dealer feedback.

Please Note: There are no changes to the Owner’s Manual Recommended Maintenance Schedule.

Effective Date: January 3, 2022 18:00 ET

Additional Information:

The Corvette Included Maintenance 1st Service Visit includes:

One (1) covered OIL CHANGE visit within 2 years of ownership which includes:
– Oil and filter change using Mobil1 oil and ACDelco oil filter
– Transmission fluid filter change (see GM Service Information document ID 5384826)
– Multipoint Vehicle Inspection

See Corvette Owner Manual for recommended maintenance schedule

  1. As the biggest supporter of failing GM would say – malarkey! GM doesn’t volunteer anything! Note in the first bulletin the work is approved for an additional 24 months beyond the 12 month benefit. The updated bulletin “clarifies” the benefit is reduced to a 24 month benefit. The board at GM is truly a bunch of stumblebum incompetents who think owners are as stupid as they are. Looking forward to the days when the Corvette brand is sold off to a corporation of capable people. It may cost a few more bucks, but there will be no bs and no defects, delays nor price gouging dealerships.

  2. I couldn’t agree more. IMO, if Corvette is to someday become a true “Supercar” it needs to be a separate entity. All of the trash that comes with so many of the other GM products infiltrates all products under the GM hat. Couple that with outrageously high markups and people start migrating to big name supercars that can walk the walk.
