After a 1-year Covid hiatus, one of our absolute favorite car shows resumes this weekend in Chicago. The 12th edition of the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals (MCACN) takes place at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Il November 20th and 21st. We highly recommend that you clear your weekend calendar and start planning now to head to the Windy City.

The cancellation of last year’s show is setting up 2021 to be the biggest show to date. Most of the 2020 content is being carried over and combined with the 2021 features. There’s already a record number of premiere unveilings and Corvette Central Triple Diamond contenders lined up. The usual 50th anniversary displays for 1970 and 1971 are being combined to celebrate both years together. The “GM top dogs” will greet you on the red carpet this year as you enter the door. Other invitational displays include 1966 and 1967 442’s, Buick Gran Sports, Dodge Challenger T/A’s and Plymouth AAR Cuda’s, Ford Cobra Jets, and even Pontiac Ram Air Firebirds. Those are all in addition to the Studebaker, Nash, and Pure Stock Muscle Car Drags displays. Raise your right hand before you enter the Judges Chamber featuring GTO judges and then head over to the “Day 2” invitational showcasing cars with period touches added.

In addition to the cars, celebrities like Courtney Hansen and Wayne Carini will be in attendance all weekend. Drag racing fans will want to see heroes like Butch Leal, Herb McCandless, Arnie Beswick, and others in the Pro Stock Legends display.

Corvettes really make up a small portion of this amazing show, but there’s still plenty of them to go around. A record number of factory-correct cars will be vying for a Corvette Central Triple Diamond award. This class is solely for cars that have previously won an NCRS Top Flight award as well as a Bloomington Gold Certificate. This year’s competitors will cover 5 generations of Corvette from 1953 all the way to 2004.

Our friends at Corvette Mike are, once again, presenting the Corvette Legends Invitational. This year’s eclectic showcase will feature some of the most significant Corvettes ever built. You’ll peep several notable race cars, stunning one-offs, and a selection of rarities focusing on Corvette’s 1st 3 generations. Several are being shown for the very first time.

As usual, there’s way too much going on at MCACN to cover it all here. We didn’t even mention the Barn Finds, book signings, swap meet, vendors, cars for sale, live bands, kids’ activities, muscle bikes, and informational seminars. You can get all the details on the MCACN website. If you can’t get to MCACN this weekend, don’t fret. Just keep an eye on our Facebook for updates and photos from the show. Next week, we’ll begin to roll out our full event coverage.
