[VIDEO] Here's Another YouTuber Going on a First Ride in the 2023 Corvette Z06

So far we’ve only see a couple videos that feature YouTubers getting to ride in the all-new 2023 Corvette Z06, and thanks to our friends at the MidEngineCorvetteForum.com for bringing this new video to our attention! The video was published by the Pushing Pistons channel and it features a ride along on a rainy day with GM’s Aaron Link and Alex MacDonald.

Like the EddieX video we shared several weeks ago, the Pushing Pistons dude is waiting in a church parking lot outside of Detroit when both versions of the prototype C8 Z06 arrive, and he offers a quick walkaround of both cars before climbing inside and going for a ride first with Aaron in the standard Z06 and then with Alex in the Z06 with the Z07 Performance Package.

Here are some of the observations from the drive:

Aaron talks about the underbody strakes on the Z07 package and how they are designed to remove air from under the body. These small rubber pieces on the underbody direct the air to the sides of the car. Aaron calls them “the most efficient aero device we’ve ever had.”

Alex discusses the drivability of the Z07 package and says “we’ve never had a Corvette that you couldn’t drive Cross Country, and they don’t intend this one to be any different.” That also ties in with what Aaron said about having a car that doesn’t beat you up when you drive it.

Alex also goes into some detail about the tuning of the suspension, saying they first started out using a spring rate similar to the Z51 Stingray on the base Z06 and then they constructed the Z07 with the higher spring rates and they absolutely loved that feel (Alex called it magic) and so they also moved those over to the standard Z06.

With the rain on the roads, Alex was only able to rev the car to about 4800 rpm before the Cup 2R tires started to break traction and he says they do traction tuning testing in the snow in Northern Michigan and the Z06’s big front splitter acts as a snow plow. Alex also mentions that even though the Z06 is a supercar, it doesn’t get a pass from doing all the validation testing that a normal Chevy passenger car goes through like water troughs and pothole testing and that helps to make the Z06 a more robust sportscar that can be used as a daily driver.

This is a very informative video and it’s interesting that the video only had 2600 views since it was published over three weeks ago. Those damn algorithms! You can check it here:

  1. WHAT A JOKE! Comparing two high performance sports cars in the rain? HaHaHaHaHaHa. And the dork with his cap on backwards? He probably had an idea how its suppose to go, but that was the best he could do.
