Even though the 2021 model year hasn’t started yet, it doesn’t mean it’s too soon to start thinking ahead to the 2022 Z06 which is expected to be the next model in the C8 Corvette line-up. Many of you are already on the Z06 list with dealers and we say “good job” if you are! If you’re thinking about ordering the C8 Z06, you need to move on that pronto. Like, right now!

What we are going to ask the Corvette Nation today, as Alex likes to call our readers, is that Chevy has a special RPO for the Corvette that allows you to select your VIN for the price of $5,000. This is a fun option for Corvette owners who want to match the sequence number to a previous model year. We wrote earlier this year about the owner of a 1953 Corvette who ordered a matching 2020 Corvette with the same VIN sequence.

The Pick your VIN program was never meant to be used as a way to leapfrog up the allocations list, but we saw more than a few YouTubers take advantage of the VIN program to be among the first to drive the 2020 Corvette. GM will tell you that not all VINs are available for customization, and of course, they are subject to availability. However, if you get your order in early enough, and you somehow make it known to GM that you want a special VIN, it might be possible to get an earlier build.

So with that in mind, we ask if you would pay $5,000 more for the 2022 Corvette Z06 if it meant that you can be among the first to get one?

  1. Thanks for the shout-out, boss!

A lot of people are going to be lucky if they only get charged $5k over MSRP when the flat-plane masterpiece first hits dealer lots.

Anyone with a deposit down already, be sure to get your dealer to put it in writing that you are only paying list price, this thing is going to see a whole new level of outrageous ADMs!

  2. Exactly. Until there is some stabilization of the market it probably will be worst than the current situation with dishonest dealers.

  3. NO! I’m old school. I’ll keep the ZO6 that I currently own from the last generation of the front engine car.
