GM Presents the C8 Corvette Convertible and New SUVs at the 2020 China International Import Expo

General Motors is doing a little teasing over in China this week, showing off five new vehicles at the 2020 China International Import Expo (CIIE).

Whether the vehicles will be available for purchase there remains to be seen, but for now, GM is happy to offer the Chinese market a glimpse of its latest technology, including the 2020 Corvette hardtop convertible.

“GM insists on introducing the best products, technologies, and services to China,” GM China President Julian Blissett said in a statement. “From entering new market segments, seeking innovative sales channels, to creating the ultimate user experience, we will actively seize the emerging development opportunities to benefit consumers and partners.”

The new Stingray, of course, features a mid-engine layout for the first time, and likewise, its first-ever power hardtop can be opened and closed in 16 seconds at speeds up to 30 mph.

At the CIIE being held in Shanghai from Nov. 5-10, General Motors is hoping to gauge how much interest the Chinese market has in the Corvette as well as four of its new full-size SUVS, including the Cadillac Escalade ESV, GMC Yukon Denali, Chevrolet Suburban High Country, and Chevrolet Tahoe Z71.

This year marks the second time GM China has presented such specialized models from the United States that are not traditionally offered in China. GM also is pushing its zero crashes, zero emissions, and zero congestion philosophy of the future at CIIE.
