[VIDEO] Karen's Husband Lectures C8 Owner About Global Warming During Corvette Photoshoot

You got to love the neighborhood busy-body. So concerned about what others are doing (or what kinds of cars that people choose to own), they feel the need to inject themselves into conversations of which they really know nothing about.

Back in May, we wrote about a woman who was arrested after she blocked traffic in her neighborhood for a “Birthday Party Drive-By.” Now it seems we have met “Karen’s Husband” who is on a mission to rid the world of gas-powered vehicles (other than the one he drives.)

The video comes from JMC Rides who recently made these pages after his Torch Red Corvette appeared to have caught fire after debris was caught in the rear Z51 brake ducts. Now JMC Rides is back with another “entertaining” video where a photoshoot in a swanky Queens neighborhood is interrupted by a guy who lectures them on electric cars and global warming.

“What kind of gas mileage does it get? Because if everyone on the planet Earth owned one of those, the global warming would be so hot, it would be 110-degrees right now,” says the man (described as Karen’s Husband by the Corvette owner).

A bicyclist watching the photoshoot then chimes in with “It is in Texas!”

One of the photographers then says to Karen’s husband “it’s actually a hybrid,” to which the busy-body says “bravo, bravo.”

The 2020 Corvette is certified at 27 mpg highway and when cruising it will turn-off four of the eight cylinders for improved gas mileage. So it’s not really a hybrid in the traditional sense, but for a 495-hp V8 engine, it does perform well with the MPG crowd.

Karen’s husband then blurts out about California going fully electric in 2024, which isn’t quite right. NPR summarized the new mandate recently passed as “California will require automakers to sell more electric trucks starting in 2024. The measure, approved unanimously on June 25, 2020 by the California Air Resources Board, says that by 2045 all-new trucks sold in the state should be zero-emissions.”

After he name-drops Tesla as the company doing it right before walking off, he returns, this time behind the wheel of a Honda Civic. Pointing at the Corvette, he says “it’s got to be all-electric, got it?” and also adds “hybrid is only half the solution.” He then boasts that his car gets like “30 miles to the gallon” while the photographer points to a Porsche Cayman and says it gets 40 mpg on the highway.

The entire conversation was good-natured and the guys did get a laugh out of it. As Karen’s husband drives away, the Corvette owner says “Next time I see you I want to see you in an electric car,” to which the man replies, “I would love it.”

  1. Hey, all Corvettes are hybrids…dating back to 1953…

…they all burn both gas AND rubber!!!

    #Karen

  2. What is Karen’s Husband going to do when A C8 Corvette is Zero Emissions. Hug a tree or move to Mars?

  3. There’s an old saying “Just remember when you point your finger at someone there are three fingers pointing back at you”. Funny how he was lecturing you about driving a non- electric car when so was he! I learned a long time ago when someone is saying something dumb to me I just ignore them, drives them crazy. I don’t know why every video he does he has to mention like ten times how loud his Vette is? funny.

  4. I’m just aching to be confronted by one of these tree-hugger types. I’m locked, loaded, and lurking! Due to man’s propensity to love reproducing copies of himself, my reply will, 9 times out of 10, leave them with their pants down. My rebuttal: “How many kids do you have? Unlike you, when I leave there will be no residue, no evidence that I ever existed. You, on the other hand, will leave copies of yourself that will in turn reproduce themselves…like a virus.” Agent Smith sez it best in his soliquey to Morpheus — https://youtu.be/L5foZIKuEWQ

  5. He should read a good book:

Apocalypse Never: Why Environmental Alarmism Hurts Us All by Michael Shellenberger

  6. Put it in perspective – a Corvette that gets 27 MPG. That’s half as many stops for fuel as early generation Corvettes. Proof enough that owning a new or late model Corvette means you don’t have to give up fun to do your part for the environment.

I would even wager that C8 probably puts out fewer emissions and gets better gas mileage than that old Civic Mr. Environment was driving.

  7. The C8 Corvette has almost the exact same mpg as the Honda civic. The C8 can have up to 27 mpg when using only four cylinders. So maybe Karen’s husband should go swallow a battery.

  8. I bought my first Corvette, a C5, back in 2002. Trying for weeks to convince my EX wife that it was a good idea. She finally said if I was so immature, self centered and childish that buying a Corvette would make me feel better….then fine. I quickly replied THANK YOU ! and dropped a deposit on the Corvette. Sometimes I look back to those days and I really miss that beautiful girl. Referring to the C5. Today I own a C7Z06. And have never looked back

  9. What an idiot, I would have told him to STFU and go away before I do a burn out throwing melted rubber all over your POS Jap crap. I hate people.

  10. Lol, I was just thinking that my 2011 GS gets 30+ mpg on the highway. Karen’s other half needs a hobby, like playing on the freeway.

  11. I worked hard my whole life to afford buying 93 octane gas to power my 580 whp supercharged Grand Sport Corvette. Karen’s husband can take a flying leap!

  12. I have not been lectured on the Corvette. I did quite a bit of research into GM saving its company and see that GM is coming out with a variety of all electric vehicles (as is Ford) including trucks and SUV’s. Sports cars includeing an all e – Corvette are likely to follow. I guess one does what one can in one’s own neighborhood. This “Global Green,” guy would approve of a foot race, such as in the Olympics, but the foot print to build the facilities to handle all of it would be a huge imprint in the Global environment. The other thing I note is that there is definitely a humorous side to all of this. I rather clean 27 miles per gallon beats the heack out of my 2019 Mercedes-Benz C300 turbo 2.0 4-banger which gets about 22 -24 mpg on the freeway and about 16-17 around town. No one is suggesting that I’m polluting the earth…ever! The Corvette is soooo much cleaner. Causes are important and yes there is Global Warming, caused by humans and the mining of all those materials that go into batteries is part of it; not to mention, disposal, later on. Food for thought. AF
