Corvette Delivery Dispatch with National Corvette Seller Mike Furman for April 5th

Each week, Criswell Chevrolet’s Mike Furman delivers new Corvettes to his customers who come from all across the country to work with the nation’s top individual Corvette seller.

It was another busy week for new Corvette deliveries with the 2020 Stingrays being delivered both locally at the dealership and across America. Mike can deliver the new Corvettes anywhere in the country, either through a Courtesy Delivery at a local dealer or he can ship directly to your driveway! For this week’s Dispatch, make sure you got your favorite beverage as Mike is sharing some great photos of the new C8 Corvettes as well as a nice collection of vintage and throwback pics for your viewing pleasure. Mike reads your comments so drop him a note at the bottom of the page and let him know which is your favorite this week!

~Approx 8 years ago is when I started posting up on Sunday mornings my weekly Corvette deliveries. It originally began so folks could see the different color combos as I carried a large inventory and I like sharing the happy faces at delivery. It then morphed into sharing my Corvette background with some old pics of different Corvettes that I’ve owned or old Corvette shows that I attended. It truly is a blast sharing "all things Corvette" with my fellow Corvette enthusiasts. I’ve had visitors/Corvette clubs from all over the world stop by Criswell Chevrolet and I give them a tour etc and some become my customers and many become my friends. I truly love what I do and where I do it. Delivering Corvettes to my fellow Corvette brethren is pure fun. I will most likely reach 5,000 Corvettes delivered later on this year and some customers/friends from North Carolina has sent me signed items from Richard Petty (they are friends of RP) a few times as they know I use these items for different charity events. Yesterday I received a box of goodies and an 8×10 picture signed by the King himself.

~Some deliveries this week…~David D. of Oakland Park, Florida took delivery at the Corvette Museum and sent me these pics of his collection (part of it) at his home garage facility…in David’s own words…”Hi Mike,

I just wanted to thank you again for everything having to do with my acquisition of my Mid Engine. As you know the last new Corvette I bought was forty years ago in 1980. I love the 2020, it was worth the wait! I thought I would send you a few photos. Please excuse all the boxes as I am in the process of painting my warehouse. Left to right 1953 VIN # 239, 2020 VIN # 239, Yellow 1967 427 that I bought in 1972 and sold in 1973. I had its VIN and looked for it for forty years. I was lucky enough to buy the actual car back in April 2018, Silver 1965 Coupe. It is one of the five Mid Years to carry the VIN # 00001. Unfortunately, it is the only one survived out of those five.”

Stay safe!
Sincerely,
David D’Onofrio
Florida

~Stan S. of Helena, Montana and his wife had their new Torch Red 2020 Corvette Z51 shipped to their California residence last week via Plycar trucking. Equipment list: GT2 seats, front lift, CF cluster surround, red calipers, CF painted wheels, engine appearance pkg, 2LT pkg and Natural interior with tan seat belts. In Stan’s own words…”Mike, all my neighbors were as excited as I was to see my new Vette. What a beautiful car and what a great ride. It’s a home run. These pics were taken in Indio at the Motorcoach Country Club (google it). Most of my neighbors have Ferrari’s, McClaren’s, etc but also have a number of Corvette lovers in here. I have given quite a few your contact info. Thanks a million, you’re the best Corvette rep that CHEVROLET has ever had. “ SS

Stan’s dealerrater review “I have purchased multiple Corvettes from Mike and even though I live in California and Montana, there is no one that I would rather use to acquire any car Criswell sells. Mike is extremely knowledgeable and from initial order to arrange “white glove” delivery, I know I am going to acquire my preferred vehicle at a very fair price without having to worry about the details. Again, thank you, Mike, for helping me acquire the new 2020 Corvette. I am one of the first to receive this gorgeous all-new C-8 in our area.”

~Sharon and John W. of Grants Pass, Oregon placed their factory order of an Arctic White 2020 Z51 coupe to be drop-shipped for courtesy delivery to their local Chevrolet dealer in Sublimity, Oregon. Equipment list: adrenaline red two-tone interior, GT2 seats, red calipers, machine face sterling silver wheels, cf painted mirrors, 2LT pkg and much more. In their own words…”Video from delivery today that I just received. We’re so excited! It’s at the dealership and will be prepped for delivery. We’re #1735. Early production for sure! This must be one of the first C8’s in all of Oregon. We put in a pre-production order about 21 months ago or so and now it’s finally in our home state. We should take delivery soon and will talk to the dealership tomorrow or the next day for instructions. In the second picture, it looks to me like someone else got a black C8. *Since we ordered Arctic White, it will be named "Bear" according to the new owner, my wife, Sharon. She named it or her or him. We’ll have to decide on that in time to come. I think it’s a she. Not sure. Whatever the gender, it’s gonna be strong and powerful! 495 Horsepower of fun! “ John W. of Grants Pass, Oregon>

  1. Fantastic eye candy photos. So uplifting in this current depressive environment we are all living in. Thank you Thank you Thank you. I’ve owned a 2003 50th anniversary Z06, 2011 Carbon Z06 and currently a 2017 Grand Sport. I’m painfully holding out for a ?2022 Z06…. 😉 Kono.

  2. Thanks for the updates on the C8`s. Has there been any updates or sightings of a C8 convertible? Production was supposed to begin 3/1 but unfortunately all production stopped 3/30. Maybe there is one hiding out at the assembly plant. Just wondering and still hoping to get a C8 convertible.

  3. adolfo — yep — wondered initially if maybe the picture was just reversed, but I see that the gas filler is still on the left side, where it should be. I also found the picture before interesting — two former Motorama show cars on display somewhere recently? — one in “barn find” condition?

  4. Love the old black and white photo of Zora and his Chevrolet Engineering crew. Having worked there over 40 years starting in 1961 I can identify at least six of the good looking gents in the photo. Have driven many Corvettes over the years, previously owned two ’67’s, a 2003 and currently a 2019 C7.

  5. Rode in a 59 Corvette to school which a friend of mine had while I was a sophomore in high school. Then in 1964 my father brought home an average-optioned Malibu White with light blue interior with three blade spinner hubcaps with the SS logo inside and the SS on the sides of the car. A two-speed auto with a 283. Great car. He then blew it by trading in that great car for a 67 Mustang. A cousin of mine bought some sort of Corvette but sold it as he went into Ferrari phase. I test drove a 2004 Corvette in LaMesa, Ca. and almost bought it but didn’t. Then I saw a cousin of mine who has what some people call money get into a series of Corvettes including the one I actually saw, a Z06. Next, I ran into some information about the mid-engine corvette and then slowly began to read about them mostly on line. November of 2019 came along and there was more and then December. On New Years Day I read up on Corvettes on line and then missed the Rose Bowl, mostly as I had my nose into my laptop trying to find out about the C8. Then I got Corvette fever. I kept e-mailing my son in Kirkland, Washington about the Corvette but he never showed the slightest interest as he had a limited edition 2012 Laguna Seca Ford Mustang Boss in Black and Red. He had that in storage. Occasionally he drove his Boss 2003 Mustang and barely mentioned the 67 Mustang I’ve been storing for him since 2001, which was supposed to be up and running in 30 days. I began all January trying to hook up my local dealer with a build and he jacked me around and played games with me. I then went on line to cars.com who suggested a dealer in Carson and on the 22nd of January, I optioned a Rapid Blue C8 in 3Lt trim with most everything. I reached 89K. After falling in love with the color, I got cold feet and changed my order to Blade Silver Metallic but still in Convertible guise. Eventually I got word that my build was 1100 coded. My $5,000 deposit was maybe going to get me a 2020 Convertible. Next: Corona virus hit in 2019 (-19 That’s what the -19 is for: the year it began as a pandemic. Bowling Green closed down; GM is making ventillators; someone reported no one in Bowling Green Corvette has had the deadly virus (great!); next: e-mail with Rick Conti to get his impressions; he says, “Don’t get your hopes up for a 2020,” and I write back that I’m optimistic. Today’s search of the Internet reveals that the Convertible will not be built for 2020 (Jay and Tadge, your video got me excited to no avail. Next: pull up the internet just to see if there are crazy C8 prices. One I think… next day, look at C8’s for sale via Car Gurus and notice that within a 5 County radius it appears that some dealers got lot allocations, something that I had no idea was going to happen, even though I vaguely recall someone mentioning them as a few of the cars in the Bowling green parking lot. I immediately did a five-county search surrounding Los Angeles and saw a number of cars, C8’s. I began at the left and went all the way through all of the Corvettes and did not like certain color/equipment combinations, builds, etc. Saw two cars of the same color. Looked at the equipment and did not like it. Went to the other one. The color was maybe my fifth or sixth choice; interior was my second choice but the equipment ticked all the right boxes. I contacted the dealership starting with the telephone contact with the public, Christina. Then I got a hold of Raymond, a manager. I had a credit card to which he said no. Then I jumped in my 2012 Racing Yellow Carrera and drove to Rydell Chevrolet on Devonshire in Northridge and parked my car and walked a few feet to a showroom window and wedged myself behind a truck and in the showroom, was the car I’d seen on the internet. I put my face to the glass and looked around. I didn’t see anything I hated or didn’t like, so I drove home into Ventura County and got on the internet again and then the telephone and made an appointment for an hour later. I was told that the dealership was shut down, but that if I wanted to see the car, it could be moved to a sister Dodge dealership in the city of San Fernando. I went over to that dealership telling my wife I was stepping out. I got home at ten o’clock that night from leaving the house at about noon. A lot of things happened, but one of them is that I signed a lot of paperwork and put wrote a check for down-payment and I made the purchase of the car that had been in the show room but was brought to the adjoining city with a different Corona virus policy than Los Angeles. I had rubber gloves on; I wore a mask. All doors but one to the dealership, locked. This car was a most unusual one (I’ve seen a few something like it) The essential elements of this car is that it came in at $5.00 less than 88,000; was an L2 Preferred Coupe Package; Z51 package (with L2 standard plus: power heated folding outside mirrors in carbon flash paint; driver safety assists; Z51 package; Vis. Carb fib. removable roof with body color edges; comp sport bucket seats; magnetic ride control; Interior carb fib. package; cluster surround and console door switch plates (one of them scratched); front lift/mem.; Trid. spoked mach. face spectra gray painted alum. wheels; carbon flash painted high wing spoiler; carbon flash full racing central dual stripe; body color exter. accents; Engine app. pack.; composite black rockers; carbon flash outside paint mirrors. I inquired about a carbon splitter on front. Gig, my sales person called the Northridge Chevy store and found that there was one at the dealer and it was available. I grabbed it; next day, I found that I not only bought the front carbon splitter, but the carbon ground effects were included in the package. It was installed the next day as I wouldn’t take the car without installation first. The following day, I have three trips all together to both dealerships and several hours later, after all the installations on my Android, I was driving home in my new C8. I wanted the car bad enough to pay a rather substantial dealer markup. I was happy and frankly, after thinking there was no chance at all to get a 2020, I now had one in my garage. Then I saw a nearly identical car on the internet here one day later. Marked up to an asking of $123,000.00, more than 18K more than I paid for the same car. And that’s my C8 story. I have pictures wherein I’m with only my salesman (no relatives, friends, camera nor entourage) just a Covid-19 Mask, etc. to remember my two day quick pursuit of an available C8 in Ceramic Matrix Gray Meallic.
