Another great event is in the books after our friends at Mecum wrapped up the world’s largest collector car auction in Kissimmee, Florida.
The Chevrolet Corvette was well represented with a total 365 Corvettes available for sale during the 10-day auction event. Of those cars, a total of 236 Corvettes were sold which represents a 64% sell-through rate for the model. The combined total for Corvettes sold during the Kissimmee auction was $14,527,700.
A huge thanks to our friend Marshall Fancher and Vette-N-Vestments for charting the sales of Corvettes at the Mecum auction.
The top Corvette sale at the Kissimmee auction was the pair of Black 1969 L88 Corvette offered as one lot (#F151). The L88 Convertible was purchased new by Tony DeLorenzo and featured an impressive array of documentation. The L88 Coupe is also highly documented and has been driven just 2,000 miles since new. The pair of Tuxedo Black Corvettes sold for $990,000.
There were some notable Corvettes which did not sell at Mecum Kissimmee. The two Midyear Style Corvettes built for Harley Earl and Bill Mitchell were offered together as a pair and they received a high bid of $1.7 million. The 1967 Corvette with 2,996 unrestored miles was bidded up to $500,000 as was the 1957 Corvette Big Brake Airbox pilot car which also stalled at $500,000.
And you can bet with over 360 Corvettes that some will sell on the cheap. A total of 37 Corvettes were sold for under $15,000 and the cheapest Corvette at Mecum Kissimmee this year was a custom 1989 Convertible that sold for $4,950.
