Barrett-Jackson to Offer the 1954 Entombed Corvette at its January Auction

Sometimes when you run across an old Corvette story, it really makes you wonder about your fellow man – like, what the heck were they thinking! We’ve covered the infamous 1954 ‘Entombed’ Corvette” previously in 2013 when it was offered for sale and for those that have never heard how it got its nickname, it makes for a good tellin’ especially around Halloween.

This 1973 Corvette is Magical says Pawn Stars Magician Murray Sawchuck

You may have seen Murray Sawchuck at a show in Las Vegas or on “Pawn Stars” where he shares his knowledge of magic history with the “Old Man” and his gang there.

But you may not be aware that this world-famous stage illusionist and magician also loves old cars, including his 1973 Corvette Stingray that he recently bought from an old farmer in Greeneville, Tenn.

It was meant to be. How else can you describe it?

Terry Dietrich was born in 1953, the same year that the first Corvette rolled out of the factory.

That coincidence sparked a love affair for the Corvette that ultimately led to her decision as a 19-year-old to buy a brand new Corvette Stingray in 1972.

1957 Corvette Transformed from Basket Case to Bayou Cruiser

This beautiful 1957 red Corvette with white coves didn’t always look this great.

In fact, the master restorer who brought it back to life says it was “all busted up.”

As Mike McCabe of Busted Wrench Garage in Gulfport, Miss., put it, “It was a chopped up, drag racing car. It had holes in it and tires sticking out of the back.”

After taking the car apart and performing extensive “plastic surgery,” though, the classic Corvette is now a dream machine.

Just a string of coincidences or a guiding hand from above?

You decide.

Dawn Hughes grew up in a family that loved Corvettes. In fact, for years her dad drove a 1964 Sting Ray convertible that he loved, but he eventually had to sell the car.

But not before he passed on his love of Corvettes to Dawn. In fact, she saved all she could for years to get one of her own. During what turned out to be their last conversation about Corvettes, her dad smiled and said, “I want to be there when you get it.”

Former Barn Find 1960 Corvette Has Great Story Behind it

The story behind a Corvette is what makes it stand out in a crowd.

Take this 1960 Corvette, which has had just two very conscientious owners since rolling out of the factory in St. Louis, Mo., not once but twice.

The original owner, a teacher named Ed Graye from West Frankfort, Ill., ordered the car with the “big” 290hp, fuel-injected 283 engine with a three-speed manual because he wanted to drag race it on the streets.

Chance Parking Lot Encounter Leads to Love for Two Corvette Owners

Sometimes love is not just in the stars – it’s in the cars!

For instance, I met Cindy, my wife of 25+ years, on a warm spring Saturday night while cruising the streets of Dalton, Ga., in my red 1986 Corvette.

It was really love at first sight, at least for me, as I quickly – and boldly for me – asked her to go to a Corvette show at Day’s Chevrolet in Acworth, Ga., the next afternoon.

When Kevin Helmintoller donated his 2001 Mallet Hammer Corvette Z06 to the National Corvette Museum in late 2013, never in a million years would he have believed that the car would be lost a few months later in a catastrophic accident. But on the morning of February 12th this year, the ground gave way under the Corvette Museum’s SkyDome and swallowed eight Corvettes, the first being Helmintoller’s donated Z06.
