[VIDEO] 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible Sells for $700,000 at Barrett-Jackson

With much fanfare, the 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible Collector Edition with the 60th Anniversary package drove up on the Barrett-Jackson auction block Saturday afternoon and was hammered sold for $600,000. Minutes later it was annouced that William Vannoy, the losing bidder in the auction, had also donated $100,000 to the sale to bring the total amount raised for charity to $700,000. Buying the rights to buy the VIN 001 2013 Corvette was Barrett-Jackson regular Ron Pratte.

January Corvette Auction Preview: Barrett-Jackson

The annual Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction spectacle gets underway this week with over 100 Corvettes offered on the 6-day long sales docket. As always, SPEED will have 39 hours of live coverage of the event starting Tuesday, January 17th.

The consignment team at Barrett-Jackson has assembled a diverse selection of America’s sports car for 2012. In addition the Chip Miller Charitable Foundation 1969 coupe and the first saleable VIN 2013 427 convertible, there’s everything from low-mile originals to ultra-modified cars for bidders to choose from.

January Corvette Auction Preview – Russo and Steele

The next stop on our tour of the January auctions is Russo and Steele’s sale in Scottsdale, AZ. They’ll be offering over 700 cars including 50+ Corvettes during the January 18th – 22nd event including Noland Adams’ 1953 “Stamp Car”. The Russo and Steele docket contains a bevy of sweet rides with the majority being C1’s, C2’s, and C3’s. Check out some of the Corvette we’d love to be bidding on.


Chevrolet’s fastest Corvette drop top, the new 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible, will be the talk of the internet today as it well should be. Somewhat buried in the press release is that the very first saleable Corvette 427 wearing what we assume will be VIN 001 is scheduled to be sold at Barrett-Jackson’s collector car auction in Scottsdale next weekend.

Barrett-Jackson to Auction 1969 Corvette for the Chip Miller Charitable Foundation

The Chip Miller Charitable Foundation is going for the Gold at this year’s Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale. For the third year in a row, the Foundation will be running a Corvette through the high profile auction with proceeds going towards finding a cure for amyloidosis – the rare disease that took the life of Corvettes at Carlisle co-founder Chip Miller.

Mecum Kissimmee to Feature 12 Corvettes from the Chuck Ungurean Collection

Mecum Auctions has announced that they’ll be offering 12 Corvettes from the Chuck Ungurean collection at their Kissimmee, Florida sale later this month. All dozen cars will be selling without reserve when they cross the auction block on Saturday, January 28th, 2012. Included among the spectacular lots are a 1969 L88, a 1972 ZR-1, and a pair of black 1967 L71’s.

Corvette Auction Preview: Leake Dallas

Leake Auction Company will be offering over 30 Corvettes for sale at their upcoming Dallas event. The three day sale will take place Friday, November 18th through Sunday, November 20th at Market Hall in Dallas, Texas. If your looking for a project C3 or C4 Corvette, check out this auction of over 100 salvage Corvettes that will be sold on Saturday in Forest City, North Carolina. Whittington Auction and Appraisal is handling the gavel duties for this collection of mostly insurance salvage Corvettes and parts. The sale is actually the first of two auctions with the second part dealing with thousands of used original Corvette parts.
