Corvettes for Sale: 1964 Corvette Sting Ray Convertible on Bring a Trailer

The current bid on Bring a Trailer for this 1964 Corvette Sting Ray convertible is only $21,850, which is likely far below the reserve amount.

The auction for this “well-loved driver’s car with good patina,” as the owner puts it, ends Thursday, Jan. 12.

Will a flurry of activity in the closing hours result in a sale? Time will tell.

As it sits now, this vintage C2 looks to be a good driver that the new owner wouldn’t have to worry about getting nicks on the paint, especially since close-up photos already show numerous minor blemishes.

The trim plate shows the car started out with Ermine White paint over a black interior when it was first purchased at Hansen Motor Company in Roseburg, Oregon. It now has a nice matching yellow hardtop and a white cloth top, and the black interior shows signs of wear on the seat covers.

Under the hood, the original L76 327/365 horsepower V8 engine is said to have been rebuilt and overbored to a displacement of 331 cubic inches about 15 years ago. That’s when they also cleaned the crankshaft, overhauled the carburetor, rebalanced the connecting rods, installed domed pistons and solid lifters, machined the valve seats, and replaced the camshaft, valve springs, piston rings, and engine bearings, along with the oil pump, water pump, fuel pump, distributor, battery, fan clutch, and thermostat.

At that time, the car’s steering column, radio, instrumentation, suspension, wheels, and brake system received attention, too.

More recently, the current owner – who bought the car in September 2021 – has replaced the valve cover gaskets and spark plugs.

The new owner will receive refurbishment records, spare parts, a set of tires, literature, an owner’s manual in a plastic sleeve, and photographs of the partially assembled engine.

With its four-speed manual transmission and plenty of get-up-and-go, this Sting Ray looks like it could provide a lot of reasonably priced fun for someone.
