Although most of the new updates to the 2012 Corvette were released last week somewhat prematurely and covered here on CorvetteBlogger.com, Chevy made it official today with an official press release detailing the new equipment and options that will be available with next year’s Corvette.
It’s new versus old in this video of an Atomic Orange C6 Corvette Z06 racing a 1973 Corvette Coupe down the strip. Obviously modified, the C3 Corvette gets the slightest of jumps on the Z06 at the start but that 505-horsepower LS7 kicks in and it’s neck and neck down the straightaway. Who wins is anyone’s guess. You’ll have to watch after the jump.
The retirement of Jetstream Blue Metallic in 2011 leaves the door open for GM to offer a new color for the 2012 Corvette and today we are pleased to bring you its replacement: Carlisle Blue Metallic. The new color is an existing Chevy color called “Ice Blue Metallic” and can be seen on the 2011 Cruze. We think the color reminds us of the 1982 color called Silver Blue Metallic or the Light Blue Metallic offered in 1984-85.

Last week’s Top Marques car show in Monaco saw the introduction of the Soleil Anadi, a coachbuilt Corvette designed and built through a partnership with Ugur Sahin and Spada Concepts. We’ve featured Sahin’s wonderfully radical designs here in the past, namely the Z03 that was to be a joint partnership with US tuner Mallet Cars. But this is the first prototype we’ve seen from him that has made the jump from vaporware to the real deal.
Texas tuner Hennessey Performance Engineering is known for their performance packages that substantially increase the power of GM and other American-built cars and trucks. Right after the initial introduction of the Corvette ZR1, HPE came out with their ZR700 package which boosted the ZR1′s horsepower to 705. Hennessey also offers the ZR750 package which brings the power on tap to 755-ponies, a ground-pounding 728 pounds-feet of torque and a top speed in excess of 224 mph! If those kind of numbers appeal to your inner racer, we encourage you to read on.
When Chevrolet introduced the 2011 Corvette Z06X at last fall’s SEMA show, we said at the time that Chevy had created one of the most exciting concepts to date. After seeing and hearing the Z06X Concept up close and personal at last month’s Twelve Hours of Sebring, it reaffirmed our call for Chevrolet to build it.
Lee Adams of Central Florida loves his sports cars. In addition to a 2009 Corvette ZR1, Adams owns a Ferrari, Mosler and an Ariel Atom, so you can tell he is a real car guy. Unfortunately, Adams recently endured the harrowing and life-changing experience of being locked in the ZR1 when his battery died. In a panic, he calls 911 for help.
The 2012 Centennial Edition Corvette Z06 made its public debut last weekend at the Chevrolet display at Barrett-Jackson’s Palm Beach collector car auction. Here are a few pictures of the upcoming appearance package which really highlight the new Carbon Flash Metallic paint. I bet this bad boy really shines in the sunlight!
