[PICS] The Corvettes of the 2015 Detroit Autorama

For the 63rd time, gearheads assembled in Detroit for the annual automotive spectacle known as Autorama. Like the groundhog that doesn’t see its shadow, Autorama signals that spring time and the car show and cruising seasons are right around the corner. A Corvette Z06 driver in Smiltene, Latvia lays down the throttle as he negotiates a curve in the road. An epic hoon in the snow but the ending is a bit abrupt. Did he go into the ditch?

It’s the final Friday in the month of February and that means it’s time for another installment of a “Black Friday” photo gallery. So here’s a random photo gallery made up of 41 black Corvettes spanning seven generations. We’re admitting in advance that the gallery does feature more black Corvette Z06s than ever before but that’s because they are more plentiful now that they are out on the streets.

If you love Black Corvettes as much as we do, make sure you share this page on Twitter and Facebook.

Three Los Angeles police officers who shot and killed a Corvette driver they believed was reaching for a weapon last year won’t face criminal charges following the recent conclusion of an investigation by LA prosecutors.

The shooting of 51-year-old Brian Beaird came on the night of Dec. 13, 2013 after he had led police on a wild high-speed chase through downtown Los Angeles.

The pursuit finally ended when Beaird crashed into another car while going through an intersection. He then climbed out of the Corvette, staggering and heading toward the back of the car where officers believed he was reaching for a weapon.

On Thursday afternoon, the National Corvette Museum marked the one year anniversary of the SkyDome Sinkhole with a press conference that culminated in the official return of the 2009 Corvette “Blue Devil” ZR1 to the display floor.

The Museum considers the one-year anniversary to be a celebration of sorts for the all the hard work and determination from the staff of the museum, the construction workers that put in long hours during the recovery and repairs, as well as the Museum members who stepped up their support during this difficult year.

The staff at the Museum, led by Executive Director Wendell Strode, has often been described as taking a bad situation and turning it into a positive outcome. The phrase “turning lemons into lemonade” has been used to describe the last year which saw record visitor numbers and new memberships despite the fact there was a large sinkhole in the SkyDome. So it was no surprise that the during the commemoration, glasses of lemonade were passed around to those in attendance.

[PICS] 2015 NCRS Winter Regional at Sun 'n Fun in Lakeland, FL

One of our favorite Corvettes shows we attend religiously is the annual NCRS Winter Regional in Central Florida. This year, the show was held at the Sun ‘n Fun facility in Lakeland, Florida which is a working airport and the site of a huge annual fly-in.

The new location had its good and bad points, but overall we were positive about it as it was a great facility for hosting the Winter Regional Corvette show.
