The voting ended Sunday night for the American Le Mans Series “From the Fans” award and as you may know, we were pushing Corvette Racing pretty hard. Now it’s time for us to make a similar push for Oliver Gavin and Jan Magnussen, drivers of the #4 Corvette C6.R who were nominated for the prestigious Most Popular Driver award.

Last month, IntelliChoice released their first annual mid-year Cost of Ownership analysis and the cars and trucks that score high in the cost of ownership surveys are known as “Best Bets”. Unlike its annual Best Overall Value of the Year analysis, the Best Bets are vehicles from the new model year that demonstrate the highest potential for achieving outstanding value over time. Chevrolet had three vehicles rank as “Best Bets” for the 2012 model year including the Chevrolet Corvette.
One of the hallmarks of any good sized car show is the opportunity to have your car compete for an award and Corvettes at Carlisle was no different. As one of the celebrity judges (my mom is so proud!) for the 2011 show, it was my job to wander the show field and find a Corvette worthy of the “Keith’s Choice” award.
The writers at Forbes obviously know a good investment when they see one. In their list of “Top 10 New Car Deals for July”, Forbes looks at the best deals and incentives offered by the automakers, specifically the direct-to-consumer cash rebates, discounted financing promotions and marketing-support incentives which are additional dealer discounts. With the 2012 Corvette on the way, Chevy wants to move the 2011s and Forbes took notice of the sweet deal on America’s favorite sports car.

Last weekend Bloomington Gold officially inducted their 2011 Great Hall honorees during their 39th annual event. The people being recognized ranged from racers to collectors to restorers. The 10 cars being saluted covered Corvette racing, styling, and high end performance.
Consumer Reports’ April 2011 edition ranks the Best and Worst of 2011 and the 2011 Corvette Z06 has earned a “best” rating with a score of 92. A car’s overall road-test score is the result of more than 50 individual tests and evaluations from Consumer Reports subscribers. For years we’ve derided Consumer Reports for its negative reviews on Corvette and what looks to be a bias against American-made cars in general. But it looks like the data is in and they can no longer dispute the fact that GM makes a very reliable car and that Corvette owners love them and would buy a Corvette again.
The annual Detroit Autorama is considered the pinnacle of custom rod and car shows. Over the weekend, 100′s of cars and trucks converged on Cobo Hall in Detroit. Even as the cars were being rolled into their display areas, the judges were already sorting through the contenders until they come up with the Great 8 – the top eight cars in the show. Those cars are then considered for the prestigious Ridler Award, named after Don Ridler who in the 1960′s moved the Detroit Autorama to the forefront of custom car shows in the US. This year a 1962 Corvette was selected as one of the Autorama’s Great 8.
Good news for Corvette owners. IntelliChoice has named the Chevrolet Corvette one of its Best Overall Values for 2011 models. IntelliChoice analyzes the data on nearly 1,800 vehicles to determine its Best Overall Values in 21 popular buying segments. The Corvette was listed as the Best Overall Value for Performance Cars.
Last week, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and the Highway Loss Data Institute released a report on Insurance Loss for vehicles built between 2007-2009. Surprising just about everybody but us, it turns out Corvette owners average the lowest insurance losses.
Your emails to the American Le Mans Series nominating Corvette Racing’s program manager were answered and now Doug is one of five finalists for the coveted “From the Fans” award. Doug is currently running second in the voting so we need to get the word out to Corvette Racing fans everywhere to put him over the top.
