Strategic Vision announced the winners of their 18th annual Total Quality Awards last week. Just like last year, the Chevrolet Corvette Coupe took best of show honors in the Premium Coupe category. The C6 also topped the Premium Convertible/Roadster division as well. For the first time in more than 10 years, domestic cars make up a majority of the Total Quality Award winners.
Awards & Accolades
Chevrolet got some good news and some bad from Consumer Reports in its annual Car Brand Perception survey.
In the survey, Consumer Reports lists each automaker’s highest-rated vehicle – and its lowest-rated.
Fortunately for Corvette fans, the Z06 was Chevy’s highest rated with a score of 92.
Back in 1974 when he borrowed $500 and started selling Corvette items like owner’s manuals and T-shirts out of the trunk of a borrowed car at swap meets and Corvette shows, Mike Yager could never dream 38 years later he’d be the Chief Cheerleader of the wildly successful Mid America Motorworks.
But it’s no dream.
In fact, at the prestigious Bloomington Gold in Champaign, Illinois from June 28-30, 2013, Yager will be inducted into the Bloomington Gold Great Hall, the most prestigious recognition of people and cars in Corvette’s history.
For a high-powered sports car, the Chevrolet Corvette doesn’t act like it at the gas pump.
Now comes word that the Assembly Plant in Bowling Green, Ky., where the Corvette is put together is pretty energy-efficient, too.
The Bowling Green facility has become one of 54 to meet a voluntary energy-reduction challenge from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Our friends at Mid America Motorworks have picked up another prestigious award.
Mid America, which is the world’s largest supplier and manufacturer of aftermarket parts for Corvettes, has just been named the winner of the 2012 eBay Motors People’s Picks Award for Best Source for Restoration Parts.
As the Chevrolet Corvette enters the last year of the C6 generation, it’s surprising to see that the popular sports car – which has earned kudos for its quality for years – has suddenly landed on the listing for Least Reliable listing in the latest Consumer Reports Annual Auto Survey.
Our research on the Web couldn’t turn up the reason for this sudden poor rating, but at least the Corvette can take solace in the fact that muscle cars in general appear to have had a rough year.
The Corvette team will need to make a little more room on the mantle for yet another award. Strategic Vision announced last week their list of winners for their 2011 Total Value Awards. The C6 Corvette Coupe took home top honors in the Premium Coupe segment beating out another CorvetteBlogger favorite, the Cadillac CTS Coupe.
Looking for the best American-made 2012 vehicle you can buy?
Well, according to Consumer Reports, then you need to buy a Chevrolet Corvette Z06.
We know in our hearts that the Corvette is one of the best cars ever made. Now our brain can feel good about it, too.
IntelliChoice has just named the 2012 Corvette the Best Overall Value of the Year in the Premium Performance Car category for the second year in a row.
