You may have seen “the ultimate GT,” as Bugatti CEO Stephan Winkelmann described the La Voiture Noire, at the Geneva Motor Show this week.

The one-off Bugatti that produces 1479 horsepower sold for a record amount of money for a new car – some $16.9 million!

Hidden in the hoopla at the show, however, was a lesser known but still impressive car based on a C7 Corvette chassis.

Well, it looks like this writer wouldn’t be close to being a contender for the title of speeding champion of Texas.

But my excuse for getting nabbed for doing 72 in a 55 in my 1970 Monte Carlo when I was just 19 years old might rank among the most creative.

I must admit that I really don’t care much for the month of March. It’s like 482 days long and the weather can’t make up its mind. One day we get 3 inches of snow and the next day it’s 50 degrees and sunny. Plus, we even lose an hour of sleep each March. The only good things that happen in March are Saint Patrick’s Day, the 12 hours of Sebring, the NCAA basketball tourney, and Detroit Autorama. End of rant.

If 2019 is indeed the last of the front-engine Corvettes, then America’s Sports Car is going out with a bang.

In fact, the new Corvette ZR1 is a contender for the prestigious 2019 Automobile Magazine All-Stars that will be announced on Saturday, March 9 at 11 a.m. Eastern time.

A crash involving this red C7 Corvette coupe and an “oversized-load” Chrysler ended with two people taken to the hospital in West Virginia on Tuesday afternoon.

Injuries were described by authorities as “not major,” though the collision did narrow traffic to one lane in both directions on I-64 East near the 29.5-mile marker in Cabell County for a while. All lanes had reopened by Tuesday evening.

So a week ago we were all crazy over the return of the C8 Corvettes to Southern California after multiple sightings of the cars were reported in the San Diego area. Those sightings in California were huge for Corvette enthusiasts because after months of hearing about issues with the cars, to see them on the road again with Corvette Team Members Tadge Juechter, Harlan Charles and Alex MacDonald was a real sign that the program appears to be back on track.

[SPIED] The C8 Mid-Engine Corvettes are Testing Again in South Florida!

It was in June of last year that we were all excited because a group of C8 Mid-Engine Corvette phototypes had been spotted in southwest Florida near Naples. The ZR1s had done some heavy testing along Alligator Alley, part of Interstate 75 that runs from Naples to Miami and it looked like the C8s were going to be running the same routes. But in just a few days, one of the prototypes was spotted with its frunk raised and charger cables attached to a Silverado and soon after all the C8s vanished from public roads.

[PICS] The 2019 NCRS Winter Regional and Carlisle Winter AutoFest

Last weekend we had the convergence of two of our favorite shows in Florida at the Sun ‘N Fun complex at Lakeland’s regional airport.

One of our favorite Corvette shows has always been the NCRS Winter Regional. It was the first Corvette show I started attending regularly going back to the early 2000s but in recent years, competition with Mecum’s gigantic Kissimmee auction, as well as declining attendance and a dwindling number of vendors has threatened the show’s viability following its move to Lakeland in 2015.
