[VIDEO] Modified C5 Corvette Z06 Hits 172 MPH in Half Mile Test

The Silver C5 Corvette you see standing here in front of the Space Shuttle Inspiration at the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds is no ordinary Z06 as you will soon see. This 3,050-lb missile is powered by a twin-turbo 6.2 liter v8 that makes 900 RWHP and 850 lb-ft of torque and it was out at the Space Shuttle’s former landing strip at the Kennedy Space Center for a Half-Mile top speed run.

After the start-up and obligatory revs, the Z06 lines up on the starting line and then drops the hammer with the 900-rwhp Z06 struggling for grip. Once the video moves to the in-cockpit view with the car’s telemetry displayed, watch how fast this car accelerates between shifts. The half-mile mark comes up too quickly with the C5 Z06 still having much more to give as it backs off.

Let’s hope we see a follow up where the C5 Z06 can utilize the full 3mile long runway in a top speed run.

Saturday Morning Corvette Comic: Breaking Down the Walls For A Better View

Corvette owners will go to extremes to watch over their Corvettes when out in public. But hey, I once considered putting a huge picture window in my dining room that looks into the garage just so I could see my 1966 Corvette. The wife 86’d that idea, but I still think that would have been cool.

Why the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing Needs LT5 Power

Why the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing Needs LT5 Power

The “next-level” of Cadillac’s V-series sedans are coming. The Blackwing name has officially been upgraded to a trim-level that will serve on General Motors’ hottest four-doors. The most hotly anticipated of these sedans is the CT5-V Blackwing. It is the car that will attempt to fill the shoes of the highly acclaimed, LT4-powered, 2016-19 CTS-V. By turning Blackwing into a badge, Cadillac has distanced itself from its bespoke twin-turbo Blackwing V8, internally known as LTA. So, even though the top-tier CT5’s new branding suggests twin-snails, there is actually a supercharged 6.2L pushrod motor lurking under its surprisingly unvented hood.

We’ve always wondered what a mid-engine version of the C3 Corvette would have looked like.

In the midst of Chevrolet’s introduction of a modern mid-engine version with the 2020 Corvette, this new rendering by Croatian artist Josip Mihic answers that question, at least in one man’s imagination.

[ACCIDENT] 2020 Corvette Ends Up in a Rock Pile After Missing Exit

Photos of another wrecked 2020 Corvette are making the rounds after a number of photos were shared to a C8 Corvette Owner’s Group on Facebook this week. The photos show the aftermath with the mid-engine sports car sitting in the proverbial “fork in the road” which, unfortunately, was covered by a large pile of rocks.
