California Highway Patrol says the General Motors high-tech security system played a key role in the apprehension of a stolen C7 Corvette coupe in the San Fernando Valley area around 1:15 p.m. Thursday.

It’s pretty great that we live in a country where men still race classic cars as they were meant to be raced. This matchup today features some old-school muscle with the 1969 Corvette L88 drag racing a 1967 Dodge Coronet R/T. Only 116 examples of the L88 were made in 1969 while the Dodge Coronet is being campaigned by its original owner still after all these years. So yeah, these guys race, and America wins!

One of the rarest C7 models around is the 2014 Premiere Edition convertible, created by Chevrolet to kick off a new generation of Corvettes.

Now, this 72-year-old owner who admits it’s getting hard to get in and out of the car has put his Lime Rock Green convertible up for sale in a listing on Corvette Forum.

Looks like the second time is a charm for the State of New York when it came to auctioning a stolen C7 Corvette that was recovered in Rochester. The high bid for the 2015 Stingray Coupe was $34,900, assuming that the deal closes.

The State of New York’s General Services Office put up the Torch Red 2015 Corvette Stingray Coupe for auction for the second time on Monday after its first attempt in June resulted in a no-sale after the winning bidder backed out of the deal.
