Your First (and Maybe Last) Look at the Illuminated Front Crossed Flags Emblem

Back in August, we brought you the unfortunate news about a dealer installed option that got footnoted in the Corvette Order Guide as “Not available at this time,” which is GM-speak for them having no idea when this will become available again.

The option was the Illuminated Front Crossed Flags Emblem which was first introduced in 2026 but then paused in the Order Guide as “Not Available” and that stuck throughout the model year. Chevrolet brought it back for the 2027 model year and this time we know that 48 examples made it out of the Corvette Assembly Plant before the $695 dealer-installed option was halted once again.

Thanks to our friend Mike Furman, we finally got to see one in these photographs, and now the FOMO is real: These are awesome!

Mike had a customer who ordered an early 2027 Corvette ZR1 that made it out of the plant with LPO R88 and he just posted these photos to Facebook showing the installation procedure which does require drilling a hole in the front fascia. A black template is also shown in the photos which we assume gives the technician the exact location of where to drill.

With us being able to see this now for the first time, how cool would it have been if the light surrounding the badge could be changed like those kits we see on Amazon that allow you to customize the LED color.

If you remember, once upon a time Chevy was also offering Illuminated Sill Plates for the Corvette Stingray so there was some sort of exterior accessory lighting strategy that GM was working on. But like the cross flags emblems, those sill plates got yanked in 2021 and never returned due to a supply issue that was never resolved.
