It seems we have one again entered another draught of visible carbon fiber accessories for the C8 Corvette. We’ve been seeing constraints on the Carbon Aero packages for so long that customers have become accustomed to not being able to get exactly what they want when placing an order. Another shortage that has cropped up as we began the 2027 model year are the B6P Engine Appearance Packages for Coupes which has been on near 100% constraint due to availability issues with the close-out plates that are installed on each side of the engine.
GM now has another visible carbon fiber accessory with an availability problem. On this week’s Distribution Update for the Corvette Order Guide, GM is now marking the Visible Carbon Fiber Engine Cross Brace with Jake Logo as “Not Available at this time.”
The distribution update covers all coupe models from Stingray to ZR1X and includes the new Grand Sport and GSX as well. Usually when GM footnotes the non-availability of an item in the Order Guide, we can expect not to see it return for some time.
However, there is some good news.
Quantities of this part are still showing as having Low Online Stock but still available to order from Corvette Accessories or through one of the GM Parts Warehouses online. The GM part number is #84983921 and it retails for $3,125.00. FYI, GM is offering 20% off this item with promo code “ROAD20” so don’t sleep if this is something you really wanted for your car.

The story of the C8 generation. It will be the “constraint generation”
C8’s aren’t on constraint. AWD models might be–but that’s an allocation issue, not a constraint one. There’s no constraints if you can’t get an allocation in the first place!
No, the issue has been–and remains–that there’s a lot of money to be made in carbon fiber bits upcharges; and no shortage of buyers willing to part with the GDP of 3rd world countries–just to have their ineffectual weight-saving woven patterns adorn all types of surfaces that benefit not one iota from it.
The people most upset by it are flippers, purists, and those who desperately want to play dress-up. The people to whom the C8 is intended to be driven–hard–are just as happy to slap aftermarket aerofoils on it. Constraint isn’t going to stop them from enjoying the car.
A draught (draft in American English) sounds amazing right now, perhaps you meant the less desirable drought?
