This 1977 Corvette hasn’t changed much since the day its first owner proudly steered it away from the dealership.
What you’re looking at is a 1977 Corvette that remains essentially the same car the original owner drove off the lot 49 years ago. Now this remarkably untouched survivor is being offered on Craigslist out of the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area for $11,995.
Said to be “all original,” the car still wears its factory Silver paint—no flashy marketing names back then—complete with the obligatory nose scuff that seems to come standard on every C3. Someone, at some point, clearly misjudged that pointy beak. Aside from that and a few minor chips visible in photos, the finish has held up impressively for a half century old driver.
Inside, the story is much the same. The interior remains original except for the seat covers and shows the kind of care you’d expect from a Corvette that has traveled just 47,000 miles and has been garaged since new.
Under the hood sits the base L48 small block—not the hotter L82 we always hope for—but this one redeems itself with something far rarer: a four-speed manual transmission. Only 2,060 of the 49,213 T top coupes built in ’77 left the factory with a stick.
And remember, the choice between the four speed and the Turbo Hydra Matic automatic cost buyers exactly zero dollars.
This car also carries a handful of desirable period options:
• Power steering and power brakes
• Tilt telescopic steering column ($165)
• Rear window defogger ($84)
• AM/FM stereo with 8 track player ($414)
Mechanically, the seller says the car is ready to go, boasting new brakes, calipers, and a master cylinder. He describes it as a “very tight car,” pointing out the visible factory bonding strips in the photos as proof of its originality. According to the listing, “everything works”—gauges, tach, wipers, headlamps, even the AM/FM/8-track. I knew there was a reason I saved that box of tapes from my senior year of high school!
For Corvette fans who appreciate authenticity over restoration flash, this ’77 might be one of the more honest survivors left on the market.
