Corvettes for Sale: Full Restored 1973 Corvette is Ready for Summer Fun!

If you’ve ever found yourself torn between the early chrome bumper C3 Corvettes and the later rubber bumper cars, this 1973 Corvette in Lakeland, Florida, makes a compelling case for the middle ground.

The ’73 model year stands alone—chrome in the back, urethane up front—and this particular L82, restored by a Bloomington Gold judge, might be one of the nicest examples currently on the market.

Offered on Craigslist at $38,500, the seller describes it as a Corvette you can “drive or show,” and the photos back that up. Finished in Blue over Medium Saddle, the car underwent a full frame off restoration to NCRS and Bloomington Gold specifications. Only 1,700 miles have been added since the work was completed in 2010, and the seller confidently rates it a 9 out of 10 today.

Under the hood sits the original L82 higher horsepower 350, paired with a 4 speed manual and backed by matching numbers and date codes. Power windows, power steering, power brakes, tilt and telescoping wheel, and Positraction – but no A/C – round out the equipment list. The restoration included numerous NOS parts—everything from the exhaust system to trim rings and centers.

The seller insists the car “runs, drives, sounds, feels and even smells like it did in ’73,” and emphasizes how rare it is to start with a clean, California based, numbers matching car. He estimates a restoration of this caliber would cost well over $100,000 today.

As always, the comments section brought a mix of admiration, skepticism, and Corvette lore:

Nevadahalfrack praised the car’s look and restoration quality, noting that while the ’73s suffered from misunderstood horsepower ratings at the time, this example is “tastefully redone” and priced fairly.

Tracy wasn’t convinced, calling $38,500 steep for a ’73 without air conditioning—adding that only an ’84 ranks lower on his desirability list.

Others chimed in with technical clarifications. MJW and Laurence pointed out that L82 hood emblems didn’t appear until 1974, meaning the lack of badges here is correct for the year.

Not everyone was sold on the car’s history. Billy raised concerns about signs of repainting and possible fiberglass repairs, suggesting the rear panel may have seen significant work. He also questioned why the seller didn’t include a trim tag photo.

But Acton Thomas countered with praise for the color combination and the quality of the restoration, estimating the car will likely sell in the mid $30s. And George Mattar, drawing from firsthand experience with multiple C3s, argued that the ’73—especially an L82 4 speed—is one of the most underrated Corvettes of the era, citing improvements in mounts, safety, and drivability.

Whether you see it as an over priced repaint or a beautifully restored bridge between two Corvette eras, this ’73 L82 is undeniably striking.
