Five years of craftsmanship, engineering, and passion have gone into a one of one 1969 Corvette restomod that will cross the block at Mecum Kissimmee on Jan. 16 —but this car’s story is about far more than horsepower. Every dollar from its sale will go directly to Curing Kids Cancer, a nonprofit funding groundbreaking pediatric cancer research.

The donor originally set out to build the Corvette of his dreams—a forever car based on an L88 theme. Starting with a clean, never damaged ’69 coupe, he transformed it into a modern supercar level machine. Under the hood sits a GM LT4 crate engine topped with a Magnuson TVS 2650 supercharger, fed by a Nick Williams 103mm throttle body, and paired with a Bowler Street Performance 4L80 automatic transmission.

The result: 589 rear wheel horsepower and 670 lb ft of torque, with every supporting system upgraded using top tier components. It’s a restomod built without compromise.

But life changed the direction of the project. After receiving a prostate cancer diagnosis, the donor began rethinking what the car should represent. The turning point came as he watched his daughter work with pediatric cancer patients—children fighting battles far more difficult than his own. Seeing their courage, and learning about the urgent need for better treatments, he chose to donate the entire value of the Corvette to support Curing Kids Cancer’s mission.

“We are incredibly honored by this generous gift,” said Grainne Owen, co founder of Curing Kids Cancer. She shared a quote that reflects the heart behind the donation: “You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.”

“This donor has done exactly that—turning a personal moment of reflection into lifesaving support for children who urgently need better treatment options,” she said.

The Corvette, which features a 1963 Daytona Blue exterior over a Cuoio (or dark saddle) interior, will be available for viewing ahead of the auction, and bidders can participate in person, online, or by phone. All proceeds—100%—will benefit Curing Kids Cancer.

The car – showing only 969 miles since the restoration – includes a new Streetshop C3/C7 chassis, no. 069; custom designed and fabricated carbon fiber rocker trim; one-off design Ferrari Cuoio full leather bucket seat interior; custom designed and fabricated carbon fiber interior pieces; Vintage Air; Hydro Boost power steering; QA1 double adjustable coilover suspension; Brembo GT brakes with 15-inch discs; custom Forgeline CF-1 wheels; and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, 275/35/ZR19 front and 325/30/ZR19 rear.

Curing Kids Cancer exists because of one little boy: five year old Killian Owen, a sports loving child who adored playing with his twin brother, Garrett. In 1999, Killian was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. He endured years of treatment—chemotherapy, a bone marrow transplant, and an experimental therapy at the National Institutes of Health.

Despite his bravery and the dedication of his medical team, Killian passed away in 2003 at just nine years old.

His parents, Grainne and Clay Owen, were determined to honor his memory by helping other families avoid the same heartbreak. Inspired by a coach who donated to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta in Killian’s honor, they launched Curing Kids Cancer in 2005. Their first initiative, “Coaches Curing Kids Cancer,” encouraged teams to donate in their coaches’ names instead of buying end of season gifts.

They hoped to raise $5,000. Instead, they raised $45,000.

Since that first season, Curing Kids Cancer has grown into a nationally recognized nonprofit, raising more than $34 million for cutting edge pediatric cancer treatments and research. The Owen family continues to lead the mission, with Killian’s brothers—Pierce, Garrett, and Finn—also contributing to the work.
