[VIDEO] DragTimes Runs the Corvette ZR1 versus Ferrari 296 GTB in the Quarter Mile

Brooks from DragTimes is fresh off his world record run in the 2026 Corvette ZR1 at Bradenton Motorsports Park. With the removal of his rear wing, his Blade Silver Matte-wrapped ZR1 Coupe ran a quarter mile in 9.270 seconds at 153.30 MPH.

Now he’s got a fast Italian lined up next to him. Will a Ferrari 296 GTB take the win in the quarter mile against the new King of the Hill? According to the specs from DragTimes, the Ferrari is powered with a 3.0L twin turbo V6 for 819 horsepower and it has a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. The GTB also has the advantage with weight as it comes in at just 3,490 lbs compared to the 300-lb heavier ZR1.

The Ferrari got a solo run first, and it ran a 9.703 at 146.51 MPH. If you saw our previous post from DragTimes, Cleetus was there and ran his ZR1 Coupe with the high wing on for a time of a nearly identical 9.7 seconds @ 144 MPH, so it’s a real contender for the ZR1.

Corvette ZR1 versus Ferrari 296 GTB

In the first head-to-head race, the two sports cars get out of the box fairly evenly, but the ZR1 never quits and just keeps going. “Bye-Bye” says Brooks to the Ferrari driver, as the in-car camera shows the Ferrari losing ground to the ZR1. Brooks ran 9.291 at 153.20 while the Ferrari clocked in at 9.737 at 146.08 MPH. That was the third time in a row that Brooks ran a 9.2 time in the ZR1, so you got to praise that consistency.

There was one more race with the Ferrari and then a teaser for the Dodge Demon 170 which we heard gave the ZR1 a real run for its money. But in the meantime, check out the latest from DragTimes:

  1. That ZR1 didn’t disappoint unlike the first one we saw run against ‘Brooks”. The 296 GTB is a worthy opponent and Brook’s ZR1 was running great.

Shockingly, I just looked up ZR1s for sale and a dealer in Florida is selling them at what looks like near sticker – in the low 200s. Some dealers are still in the $300s or over. Maybe there’s going to be enough ZR1s and no ADMs. Nice!

  2. Ferraris have a superb design center and keep hitting the high marks on their car designs but I have yet to see a real Ferrari curb weight coming remotely close to the claimed curb weight.
