A bunch of news and rumors about the upcoming 2026 Corvette ZR1X hit on Monday, and it finally feels like the first orders for the C8 hypervette could are happening this month. Here’s what we know, and why we are speculating about the start of ZR1X orders.

Thursday is the expected start of the December 2025 Corvette order cycle in which dealers will get their allocations for ordering C8s. The following week (Thursday, Dec 18), the order bank opens and those customers with a matching allocation can be submitted.

With that order cycle planned, Chevrolet sent out a mass email on Monday to those on the Corvette list saying you can “design your dream ZR1X” with a link to the configurator at Chevrolet.com.

Back during the March 2025 Order Cycle, a near similar sequence of events happened. First, Chevy did get the ZR1 fuel economy ratings and the mandatory gas guzzler tax with that news breaking the day the ZR1 allocations dropped. That week, Chevrolet also sent an email stating “build the ZR1 of your dreams” with a link to the ZR1 configurator.

It looks to be the same playbook as ZR1, and that points to allocations coming this week.

Now, let’s jump ahead for some additional speculation. Assuming ZR1X orders do happen this month, we still have the Assembly Plant shut down through mid-January, so production of those first ZR1X customer cars may not happen until February or even a bit later. But, perhaps that does open the door to seeing one delivered at the NCM Bash in April 2026?

We are also hoping to see the first retail ZR1X auction for charity at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale in January. It hasn’t been announced yet if Chevy will do it, but they have offered the VIN 001 Corvette for every single C8 model released. And of course, there is the winning streak from Chevrolet dealer and NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick who owns all C8 VIN 001 models during their inaugural years.

Our friends at the MidEngineCorvetteForum.com are saying that two ZR1Xs were on the assembly line today and one of them was Blade Silver while behind it was an Arctic White example. We find that interesting that these two cars would be on the assembly line today as there are public tours happening on Monday and Tuesday this week. However, the cars have been released since June 2025, and so it’s no big secret in showing them off. Could that Blade Silver ZR1X that was seen be a Quail Silver edition? Did anyone on a plant tour see it today? Let us know!

So as mentioned, there appears to be many moving pieces happening with the ZR1X this week. Stay tuned to CorvetteBlogger for any updates!

  1. Keith – I was leading tour groups yesterday at the plant and we DID see the Blade Silver ZR1X on the line (did not notice a white one). It did not look to be the Quail matte finish. But it did have that big beautiful wing with carbon fiber wheels. And we heard it start up at final line. Fun!

  2. I love how the website is so off on colors. The purple ZR1 looks like an actually awesome color. But IRL, Hysteria is nowhere near that.

  3. So how does someone get a ZR1X allocation? People talk to their dealers about getting one and get a reply with an offer for leasing a Silverado. “Corvette dealers” seem to exist only if you want a Stingray or 2025 Z06. Something is wrong at Chevy when it comes to Corvette customers.

  4. Very disappointing that the roof and nacelles of all ZR1 and ZR1X convertible models are blacked out. Who came up with that idea? There is no option to make those parts body color. Hopefully that will change by the time that I get an allocation in a year or so. Given the reality of this unforced error styling “fail” I’m glad that I have time to wait and think about what might be done about it.
