BREAKING: 2025 Corvette ZR1 Gas Guzzler Tax is $3000

With 2025 Corvette ZR1 orders getting their much needed do-over tomorrow, we’ve been thinking about when we would learn the final piece of the ZR1 pricing puzzle which would be the gas guzzler tax for America’s newest supercar. Well, that moment arrived late Wednesday afternoon as we were able to confirm with a Chevrolet representative that the ZR1’s gas guzzler tax would be $3,000.

Considering that the 2025 Corvette Z06’s gas guzzler tax is $3,000 for the 670-hp LT6, we were thinking that the ZR1’s rating would be higher considering that it makes 1,064-hp from the twin-turbo LT7. The Stingray and E-Ray share the 495-hp LT2 and there is no gas guzzler tax for that engine.

Now that we have the gas guzzler price, the Corvette ZR1’s Build and Buy Configurator is now fully functional as it shows your build’s summary price at the top right corner instead of “See Dealer for Details.” Under the summary of info on the left side, the Gas Guzzler Tax is now a line-item:

As for the ZR1 order cycle that opens up again tomorrow, it looks to be a complete do-over as all the previous ZR1 orders submitted in February were rolled back to 1100 Status today which is basically “Submitted to GM.” It looks like dealers will get the numbers for the TOM Carbon Fiber Aero that can be ordered in the morning and then will submit those orders for the cycle which ends on Tuesday. Even those orders that went in when the customer didn’t want the aero will be resubmitted.

This is a good opportunity for those dealers forced to skip over their first customers who wanted the high wings another opportunity to submit their order. Of course it means that some who were able to previously submit may have to wait until another order cycle, but that’s how it would be fair. Some will be happy, and others won’t be, but put the blame squarely on GM for this and not your dealer reps.

FYI, the next Corvette Order Cycle is believed to start again on April 10th.
