The most interesting thing about this 1962 Corvette?
It’s hard to choose.
How about its 91-year-old owner – who offers proof that it’s never too late to buy a Corvette after picking up this car when he was just 82 from the original owner’s family?
Then there’s the numbers-matching 327/340 horsepower V8 engine that still resides under the hood, still mated with a four-speed manual transmission.
What about the auxiliary matching hardtop … or the 75,748 miles on the odometer – believed to be the actual reading to the best of the seller’s knowledge? Regardless, he knows for sure he himself has driven it less than 1,000 miles during his ownership.
Custom touches like the dual third taillights, side exhaust, and smaller-diameter steering wheel also add character to this vintage C1. The car also has the original black soft top, Wonder Bar signal-seeking radio (with repair needed for the search function), optional 15.5-inch wheels, and whitewall tires.
Or the icing on the cake could be the gold-anodized grille, believed to be part of a small run of approximately 50 cars built to commemorate Chevy’s 50th anniversary.
For these reasons or a totally different one, someone may choose to buy this last of the solid axles currently being offered on eBay with an asking price of $75,000.
While unrestored, the car still “displays impressively for a 63-year-old car,” according to the listing. The black paint appears to be original lacquer for the most part, and as such it’s showing the kind of tell-tale aging common on early fiberglass – like stress marks and checking.
A third owner won’t have any big projects on his immediate agenda as the seller claims there are no major mechanical defects or needed repairs and believes VIN 20867S113563 is “ready to be enjoyed immediately” at cruise-ins, club events, and weekend shows.
Does this car interest you enough to sign on the dotted line?
