I’ve got a quick update on allocations thanks to our friends over at the MidEngineCorvetteForum.com. As I have been out of the country this week, I wanted to make sure we stayed on top of today’s allocation numbers. Of course, what we really wanted to know is if this will be the week when GM will start allocating its new hypercar, the 2026 Corvette ZR1X.

Unfortunately, it appears the wait for ordering the 1,250-hp ZR1X continues.

Having had conversations with a couple of dealers about the upcoming ZR1X, it felt all but certain that GM would start the ordering process. After all, GM had just released the new ZR1X Configurator over the weekend, so it seemed like everything was a go. However, we are still waiting on the fuel economy rankings and the gas guzzler tax so perhaps that is what is holding things up?

On the flip side of this coin, the ZR1X is also expected to be extremely limited, so it could be that our pool of dealers that we rely on for these kinds of things were bypassed in favor of other dealers, although I would find that extremely hard to believe.

So we checked in with our friends at the MECF, who gave us this broad overview of what they learned this morning:

1) No ZR1X allocations.
2) Very, very few ZR1 allocations.
3) Almost no E-Ray allocations.
4) Quite a few Stingray allocations.
5) Moderately strong Z06 allocations.

The one other thing that we haven’t seen Chevy do yet with the ZR1X, but which they have done with every new C8 Corvette that’s been launched is to offer the very first retail version to Rick Hendrick at a Barrett-Jackson auction with the proceeds going to charity. The last opportunity was the BJ Fall Auction in October, which of course didn’t happen. So if there is going to be a charity auction for the ZR1X, we are looking at late January. FYI, Barrett-Jackson’s collector car auction runs January 17th to the 25th.

Moving on the ZR1, the production numbers have been really good in our opinion, with 558 showing up on Roger Kiel’s C8 Production tracker. ZR1 buyers have been shut out of the ZTK package as the J59 Brakes have been on 100% constraint. Again, we theorized that Chevy was perhaps saving what sets it has for the launch of the ZR1X.

As for the E-Ray, Chevy has throttled production from its highs during the 2025 model year and now it’s the least produced model with just 460 units built since July 30th. However, it’s looking to me that this lower production cadence is helping to constrict the E-Ray market as the Chevrolet Live Tracker is now only showing 606 units available with 469 of them being 2025s.

And finally, Z06 production continues to be steady and if feels like the Carbon Fiber aero issues have lessened as well. We’ll know more about that again next week.

The constraints will come next week and then the order banks will open. If your allocation did come up this week, congratulations and good luck with your build!

  1. Thank you Keith for all these late breaking news and informational stats! I very much appreciate your dedication and hard work!

  2. I’m guessing that the demand for 2026’s has significantly cooled demand for 2025’s, and that’s what’s contributing to all of the 2025 ER’s you can see. Many dealerships are not yet offering discounts on the ER sufficient to drive the rest off the lots. That’s partially understandable, since 2026’s aren’t forthcoming, and those that are delivered are usually going directly into customer hands. Without new MY inventory to overshadow existing inventory–there’s been little incentive to push what’s already on the lot.

If GM is also artificially throttling in order to have full parts availability for the ZR1X, that would not surprise me either.
