Corvettes for Sale: 51-Years-Family-Owned 1963 Corvette Split Window with Banged Up Front End

What a sad day that must have been when this 1963 Riverside Red Corvette split-window coupe was smashed in the nose after rolling in the same family for 51 years!

The current owner’s father used this vintage Sting Ray as a daily driver until the 1980s after purchasing it from the original owner, a friend of the family, in 1974. He passed it down to his son in 2017, but after a front-end collision earlier this year, Junior has decided it’s time for a new legacy to start with another family. With six days left in a Bring a Trailer auction, the high bid has reached $30,000.

It’s a shame that the body is damaged since the rest of the car looks to be in very nice condition, including the “dipped red” interior and the engine bay, where the original L75 327/300 horsepower powerplant is still in place. Other than the front end, which has a turned-up lip now, the body looks to be in good condition, too, other than a few minor scattered blemishes. The left rear bumper also hangs a little lower than the other side courtesy of an earlier accident, and damage on the right front corner from the 1970s had already been repaired when the new accident happened in 2025.

Features include red vinyl seats, dash, and door panels, heater, analog clock, power windows, lap belts, numbers-matching four-speed manual transmission, and power steering (added in 2011). A new exhaust system is said to have been installed in 2011, but it may be time for a replacement again since we’ve found that rust can sometimes eat away at mufflers even with limited use. The AM/FM radio doesn’t work, so it’ll either have to be fixed or replaced with a new unit. The listing also notes a screw securing the driver’s seat to the seat rail is gone, making for a rockin’ experience going down the road, no doubt.

No word on the actual mileage as the odometer shows 58,000 miles but isn’t accurate since the unit apparently stopped working back in the ’80s.

As one of only 10,594 SWC Sting Rays ever built, this car is definitely worth a rescue, and it looks like all the bones are there for an easy restoration. Would you like to bring them this C2 Corvette home to join your own family?
