This 1956 Corvette roadster painted black with silver coves still runs, drives, and stops.
And the owner can prove it. Just watch the video he shared that shows the car starting, backing out of the driveway, going down the road, and then pulling back in again.
Nearly 70 years after it was built in the St. Louis factory, this Corvette definitely shows signs of its age, but at least you don’t have to wait to start enjoying it.
Now, the seller is offering the car on eBay, where the asking price is $46,900 or best offer.
As you might expect, the original engine is long gone, replaced by what the owner believes to be a “mild” 350 with a small solid lifter cam and a newer looking carburetor, mated with a four-speed manual transmission “with correct appearing shifter.”
Underneath, he says the chassis appears to be “solid,” and the VIN on the frame matches the body and title.
Right now, you’ll either have to leave the white hardtop in place or go topless while you cruise down the road because the soft top is missing. Inside, the original seat covers have been ditched in favor of two-tone black and gray pleated replacements, but the dash is still in place, including the gauges and dash-mounted rearview mirror.
While the car is definitely a long way from a trailer queen, it seems to offer a good launching point for either a restomod or a more traditional restoration back to stock. What direction would you like to see the new owner take?

$46,900.00 🤷🤷or B.O. 🤷🤷 WOW that’s Ludacris (PERIOD)
Can someone explain those wheels?
Never seen anything like them.
Those “Appear” to be appliance or “dayton” wire wheels, and the owner painted the outer rim black leaving the wire center section chrome.
Just my guess.
A 46 grand rat rod….if I win the lotto…drop in a Stroker and party on…
Wheelz…. I believe you are correct with the addition of maybe Tru Spokes. I picked up a set a few years ago for $75 that were starting to rust and the chrome peeling off. Sand blasted them and powder coated and they turned out real nice for a daily driver.
