The Gran Turismo 7 video game’s latest update now gives players the opportunity to drive the Corvette CX concept car that was revealed during The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering in early August. Now thanks to a GM designer, we have some in-game screen shots showing the hot concept both on the road and at the track with three other “classic” Corvettes.

When we first saw the Corvette CX Concept and the CX.R Vison Gran Turismo Racer presented together in Monterey, we couldn’t help but to admire the beauty and skill that went in to crafting them. As a standalone display, they are so unbelievably futuristic looking machines. And when you put them next to a classic Corvette as they did with having the 1959 Stingray Racer alongside them, it makes it much easier to see those early design characteristics carried over to the CX and the CX.R VGT concepts.

Leave it to an automotive designer to point this simple fact out: Corvettes carry their DNA through the generations.

Vladimir Kapitonov is a car designer at GM and has worked on numerous projects including the design lead on the C8 Stingray and the Z06 GT3R racer. In a recent Instagram post, he points that out saying, “Corvette is known for constantly reinventing itself – but with common DNA throughout the generations. CX Concept is the newest ‘kid’ that overtly carries the spirit of the ‘ancestors'”.

And you can totally see it in these photos below. The screen shots were taken in the Gran Turismo Scapes mode which allows you “take a photo” of your car within the game. Many of these Scapes locations are based on real places like Laguna Seca Raceway.

The Corvette CX Concept is shown next to a 1963 Corvette Sting Ray Coupe, a 1969 Corvette Stingray T-Top Coupe, and a C8 Stingray that also is shown next to the concept. All these cars are painted silver like the Concept, and that makes it even easier to spot some of that common DNA. That includes the feature line that runs horizontally around the car and dividing it in halves. Another feature line, this one vertical, runs over the top from front to the back of the car. And then you have tall wheel arches and fender design which we see even on today’s C8.

Check out the photo set below and let us know what you see as a common theme:

  1. Another common theme at least on the C3, C8 and CX Concept is the good looking pointed nose front end styling.

  2. When you compare the 63 and 69 Corvettes with the C8 and CX concept, the new cars seem
Huge compared to the old . The new ones are big, wide and heavy looking I have a normal 2-car garage, when I put a C7 and a C8 in the garage, the cars are so wide, that its hard to enter or exit. Mainly because you can’t open the doors all the way
