Austin from the Speed Phenom YouTube Channel was out at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering in Carmel, California on Friday as part of the Monterey Car Week. While there, he managed to capture most of the Chevrolet reveal of the Corvette ZR1X and the two new concept cars, the CX and the CX.R Vision Gran Turismo.
Following the short talk, Austin is able to check out the concepts up close as he talks with Tristen Murphy, Corvette’s Interior Design Manager. Tristen shows off the radical interiors on the concepts before moving over to the new ZR1X interior which features the Sky Cool with Medium Ash interior with Habanero accents.

I think it is UGLY
They should bring back the CERV III and th Indy. U wouldn’t know those cars were designed in the 90’s.
Good thing these CX and CX.R concepts will never be made. I think I saw that impractical roof/windshield lift jazz in a 1990s era Oldsmobile concept car. The unnecessary bars around the driver are a claustrophobic turn-off. I like the outside looks.
Regarding the ZR1X paint, older people should never buy anything that looks gray. It reinforces how old they are getting… lol.
Don’t like the matte finish on the concepts.
Tron
‘Silver’ story. My 2014 C7 was the 485 th C7 produced in August of 2013.
The build sheet lists the color as ‘Switch blade’. The window stickesr are made at finial assembly of a car had the color changed to ‘Blade Silver”.
Matte silver is one of the better matte finishes since some remind me of the primer used “back in the day”.
I swear these recent Corvette concepts all remind me of the old citreon gt, especially the interior design
Aside from some concept-isms & gimmicks like the canopy et al, the CX is not a bad concept.
This is what artists do when given carte blanche from hard engineering, economic & regulatory limits to tell a story of ‘what if?’. They do it in other sectors as well.
Not to worry, my fellow Corvette owners & enthusiasts, this is not the C9. However, the ideas gleaned from CX will undoubtedly influence it.
At least its not a god-forsaken SUV…..
I don’t like split colors and definitely not red with blue or blue with red like the past one year Grand Sport. Give me White Black with Natural or Black intetior
Not for me
Just ugly. The concept car isn’t great, and the current corvette design is tired and aftermarket looking. GM somehow thinks globbing on spoilers and splitters makes a cool car. It just doesn’t. I am a C3 owner, and wouldn’t swap for anything corvette today. So very disappointing. Why can’t GM stop playing follow-the-leader with the cartoonish, overstyled designs and just build a car with some inspiration. Hard pass.
They look like a Ford gt you guys can’t come up with any new designs give up.
I love Corvette but I think out of respect more should be given to Harley Earl. I know Mr. Duntov, grounded the Corvette in what it became, but without Mr. Earl, there would’ve been the beautiful and awesome car we have today. So give Mr. Earl his due respect.
Hi Ken. Yes, Harley J. Earl is the Father of the Corvette, while Zora was the crazy Russian uncle who put it on the path to respectability.
