[VIDEO] Wheeler Runs His 2025 Corvette ZR1 on the High Banks of Daytona International Speedway

Are you ready for some more on-track action featuring the 2025 Corvette ZR1? New owner Christian Wheeler is back with another killer video with the ZR1 at Daytona International Speedway for a track day event. It’s his first time to run on the high banks of Daytona and he’s got his car decked out with three cameras to capture all the action.

Like he said when he had the ZR1 out at Sebring, the goals are to have fun and bring the car (and himself) home in one piece with no issues.

As he is getting ready for his session to start, Wheeler explains that he’ll be running in the Intermediate group, and there will be about 40 cars out on the track. He also tells us the car is full of Shell Nitro Plus V Power gasoline, and he has swapped the Cup 2R tires for a new set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.

The video offers some great footage of his car on the track and then we get to see the four-camera setup with one of those being the PDR video. He does run into traffic often, but is able to pass with ease once on the banks. He’s call that experience of driving up on the banks “indescribable” in how disorienting it was the that first time, especially with the g forces that were being exerted on his body.

The speed of the ZR1 is really apparent and as he becomes more comfortable, we see the speeds increase. His fastest speed was 185 mph and he thinks without traffic and having a good exit that he could surpass 190 mph at the track. During his runs we see a Camaro start to spin out in the infield and another car left some oil on the track.

This was another fun video showcasing the performance of the 2025 Corvette ZR1 by a new owner. We are also glad to see that both Christian and his ZR1 did in fact make it home without any issues. Check it out here:

  1. This guy is all over YouTube. Guess he needs a lot of clicks to pay for the car he is wearing out.

  2. Milo is correct. There’s a lot of these types of corvette owners, seemingly everywhere nowadays. People whose lifestyle probably carries a monthly debt-repayment price tag of 5-figures–and have no desire, capability or intent to eliminate it.

  3. Good to see the helmet buckled this time, but ditch the drink can and any other loose stuff.
Overconfidence can be fatal at Daytona – something to keep in mind. Even the pros respect the potential for injury there.

  4. I want to see an all electric Vette that is quickly than anything from Lucid or Tesla. The ICE is dead.

  5. Christian – You did a good job both driving and filming. You needn’t change a thing, except…
    Two observations:
    1) The Lotus did leave a tight lane free to the left for you, but failed to signal with its right blinker on (racing protocol), so it was confusing. He needs a briefing (as probably does everyone).
    2) You passed three cars (that I saw) on the right! Don’t do that. Be patient. This is not NASCAR. If the Lotus guy saw that, he might have thought you’d do that with him too.
    Best,
    Bernie…

  6. Christian – – –

You may still has to do some “homework” [like practicing the violin!] on getting the ZR1 around corners fast and safely — that is that car’s greatest weakness.
But you’ll be able to monitor your progress if you graduate to VIR in the 4-mile configuration, and you’ll have “Lightning Lap” data from comparable cars for comparison.
