The sky’s the limit with this 1965 Corvette convertible being offered at no reserve on eBay through Thursday.
That means before the end of the week, the highest bidder will have a clean slate with this vintage Sting Ray that definitely needs a full restoration.
The seller says it’s been sitting “many years,” but it still “rolls and steers.” Photos seem to support his claim that the car has a “solid frame” 60 years after leaving the St. Louis factory, and he believes it now could be a “great project car to restore or to make a restomod out of.”
The car has an L79 327/350 horsepower V8 engine that still turns by hand, despite its lack of use for a long time, and it’s connected to a four-speed manual transmission.
The original Nassau Blue paint, affirmed by the trim tag, has long ago given up the ship, but it does still include an optional hardtop that was a $236.75 option back in the day. The body seems to be damage-free, and the original hubcaps are included with the deal.
The two-tone white and blue vinyl interior, meanwhile, doesn’t look too bad. We’d like to see what the seats could become with a little elbow grease, but the door panels and armrests appear to be beyond saving and it’ll also need the carpet replaced. All the gauges are in place on the dash, but whether or not they are still functional remains a question.
