General Motors released their 1st Quarter 2025 sales results earlier this week and Corvette sales were down 20.8% versus last year as 6,794 were delivered during the time period versus the 8,576 Corvettes delivered during 1st Quarter 2024. The last time we saw Corvette sales this low in 1st Quarter was in 2021 when just 6,611 Corvettes were delivered to new customers.

Obviously, this is not great news as the C8 Corvette marketplace has been perfectly set up for buyers due to the huge number of available Corvettes ready to be sold and dealers offering huge discounts on available cars. And believe us, there are plenty of available new Corvettes for sale.

Last week, our monthly “On the Ground” report showed just over 4,500 Corvettes for sale on dealer’s lots, which is thankfully down from the more than 6,000 Corvettes that were showing up on Chevrolet’s Live Inventory page in February.

There is a lot of uncertainty in marketplace, and 1st quarter sales numbers are generally lower than at other times during the year due to weather-related events. We will be watching to see if there is any improvement when we revisit these again in three months.

On the positive side of things, we are seeing that the daily number of Corvettes produced has dropped since last year and we just came off a two-week shutdown as the Corvette’s assembly line is being reconfigured for project improvements. It’s believed that these improvements to the assembly line will help with producing more widebody models like the E-Ray, Z06, and the upcoming ZR1 versus the base Stingray.

One point we do want to mention is that the Costco promotion/incentive for the 2025 Corvette Stingray and E-Ray which allows you save between $2,750 to $3,000 is coming to an end on April 30th. This incentive is stackable with other discounts, and we’ve even heard that those who have custom ordered their Corvettes are able to take advantage of the savings, as long as you take delivery by the end of the month.

These delivery numbers are for U.S. sales only.

Our Corvette Sales Archives will be updated in July 2025 with the release of GM’s official 2nd Quarter 2025 sales numbers.

1st Quarter 2025 GM Sales

DETROIT — General Motors (NYSE: GM) nnounced that its U.S. sales increased 17% in the first quarter, with double-digit increases across all four of the company’s brands. For the quarter, GM led the U.S. automotive industry in total, retail, and fleet sales.

GM continues to be the market leader in full-size pickups and SUVs. We expect GM to be again the #2 seller electric vehicles in the U.S. with sales up 94% in the quarter.

Chevrolet sales were up 14%, with the best first quarter since 2019. Chevy is the fastest growing EV brand in the U.S., led by Equinox EV and Blazer EV. Cadillac retail sales were up 21%, with EVs up 37%. GMC had its best Q1 ever, with sales up 18%. Buick posted its best quarter since 2006, with sales up 39%.

“GM’s sales growth outpaced every other major automaker, and the driving force is our portfolio,” said Rory Harvey, GM executive VP and president of global markets. “We’re the industry leader in trucks and affordable small SUVs, Cadillac is growing significantly in luxury, and we have the broadest portfolio of EVs in the industry.”

  1. The issue is that the C8 really hasn’t changed much since it launched. I’m ready to but a 2026 Eray, but you can’t even configure it yet and GM is silent on Trump’s tariffs. If they apply are are significant, I may pass as tariffs add no value and if Trump later drops them, I would never recoup their cost.

  2. Need more information about the tariffs. The general understanding is that the tariff does not apply to cars made in America. But if there is some foreign content in the parts that are used… perhaps there is some partial tariff to pay. I doubt that was intended by the administration.

Maybe someone could write an article about this to straighten it all out.

Many years ago, AC Delco spark plugs, oil filters and air filters were made in the factory on Dort Highway in Flint, MI. But all that was moved to China and the Michigan factory was flattened to bare concrete. That always bothered me.
