The driver of this Torch Red C8 Corvette Convertible was captured on radar driving 127 MPH in a 65 MPH zone on Tulsa’s Broken Arrow Expressway on Wednesday afternoon. Tulsa police said a traffic officer was passed by the speeding red Corvette at nearly double the speed limit and the driver of the Corvette was issued the ticket.

Unfortunately for the Corvette’s driver, going 25+ MPH over the speed limit turns a simple citation into aggravated speeding which requires a court date and a fine of up to $500 or 10 days in jail.

If the ticket wasn’t enough, Tulsa Police has got some jokes as well.

In a Facebook post, Tulsa Police compares the aggravated speeding fine the price of Eggs saying “hat would be $8 for every MPH over the speed limit or one carton of eggs per MPH. Since he was driving a Vette, maybe the cost of eggs isn’t a concern.”

  1. Protect yourself with a high quality radar/laser detector, dash camera, and run an app like waze. Moreover, be very selective when choosing where and when you are going to break the law! Red Corvette are the most conspicuous of all the color choices, “Arrest me red.”
The Police Officer may decide to arrest you and confiscate your Corvette, this why it is very important to carry your Lawyer’s business card with you? Yes, the Officers comment’s were unnecessary, distasteful and unbecoming.

    Thanks,
    Ray

  2. My nephew was almost killed by an idiot like that.
Officers comments were tasteful and funny IMO.

  3. Because there are so many red Corvettes on the road, it’s not the most risky of all the choices because there could be several others in the same area creating some uncertainty. Consider yellow if you want conspicuous…

Got that right, Dan. I also have a sense of humor. The police were good natured and didn’t say anything offensive. I think we need to redirect criticism to the perp where it belongs. He’s a little out of control of himself and should accept it. I always do when I’m in the wrong.
