[VIDEO] A Corvette-Driving Teenager was Clocked at 168 MPH During High Speed Police Chase

A 16-year-old took the drive of his life Monday night, but the 10-minute, 20-mile trip will be the last one he takes for a while.

The Nebraska State Patrol says the teen was driving a Corvette more than 130 miles per hour when a trooper clocked him on Second Avenue in Kearney near the I-80 interchange just before 10 p.m.

The trooper tried to get the driver to pull over on Highway 44 south of Kearney, but the youthful driver just stomped his foot harder on the accelerator and climbed to speeds as high as 168 miles per hour.

The chase continued on Highway 6 toward Minden, but as they headed into that town, another trooper employed stop sticks to slow the Corvette down.

Once in Minden, the teen tried to fool the officers by turning off his headlights and parking on a side street. A deputy from the Kearney County Sheriff’s Office wasn’t tricked, however, and troopers soon took the youngster into custody.

Now, he faces charges of willful reckless driving, flight to avoid arrest, and speeding. At least no one was hurt in the incident.
